The Czech automaker, Skoda has recently launched the sportier Octavia RS on September1st,2017 in India. The model has been dispatched to a few dealers across the country and the deliveryis expected to begin in September itself.
The Skoda Octavia RS is more premium and powerful than the regular ones from the automaker. It is the most powerful Skoda car in India till date, offering some of the best-in-class technically advanced features, powerful engine mechanism with great performance and the newly designed exterior to boast off. It does not have any rival in the Indian market and is expected to be received well. The booking for the car has already begun and since its launch, the company claims to have got ahuge response from the buyers.
Earlier, Skoda launched the Monte Carlo edition of the Rapid in the Indian market and now with the new Octavia RS, it is expecting to grab a huge slice of profit by targeting young generation. The company is also looking forward to launch the new Kodiaq in the highly competitive SUV segment in India later this year.

The 2017 Skoda Octavia RS borrows some of its styling features from the facelifted Octavia. It is a great example of engineering excellence. The production model is exactly the same as the concept model. The front-end is sporty with a chrome-surrounded glossy black radiator grille and the quad-LED projector headlamps with daytime running LED lights. The front fascia looks further more aggressive with the redesigned front bumper with three air intake and horizontal LED fog lamps. The side profile has undergone no change and still looks way impressive with curves at right places. The rear end of the car complements well to the design of the car featuring a protective large bumper with new black diffuser and LED tail lights. The car gets the new 17-inch ‘Hawk Anthracite’ alloy wheels, which adds sportiness to the sedan. It offers four different colour shades – Candy White, Race Blue, Steel Grey and Corrida Red for the buyers.
Interior delight and safety features
The new Octavia RS features an all-black theme inside the cabin with seats wrapped in Alcantara leather. It gets the new sporty seats with contrast stitching, which makes the cabin look quite sporty and the ambient lighting is standard. The steering wheel, door sills, gear-knob and headrests feature ‘RS’ badge. Skoda offers some clever features including a removable LED torch in the boot and an umbrella under the passenger seats. The car also features a 3-spoke steering wheel supporting voice commands over Bluetooth. Other driver assistance technologies e.g. Blind Spot Detector, Rear Traffic Alert and Trailer Assist have also been provided. The centre of the newly designed dashboard features a 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink compatibility. It also offers a new Crew Protect Assist feature, which not only closes the sunroof and windows but also tightens the passenger’s seatbelt during any accident and reduces therisk of injuries. The car offers air bags, rear parking camera and ABS system with EBD as standard safety features. Moreover, it offers a Front Assist system with emergency braking to avoid aforward crash.
The power plant
The Indian-spec new sedan is powered by a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged TSI petrol engine replacing the older 1.8-litre motor, which churns out a maximum power output of 230 bhp against a peak torque of 350 Nm. The gasoline engine comes mated to a 6-speed DSG (direct-shift gearbox) automatic gearbox, which transmits the power to the front wheels. Thanks to the parameters of power and torque, the car can accelerate to 100 kmph from standstill position at a mere 6.8 seconds and can attain a peak speed of 250 kmph. The new performance sedan returns a mileage of 14.45 kmpl and requires 95 RON fuel for efficient performance. Moreover, the car offers three different driving modes – Sport, Normal and Comfort as per the manufacturer’s Dynamic Chassis Control system.
Should you buy it?
The latest performance-oriented sedan from the Skoda is priced at Rs. 24.62 lakh (ex-showroom). It is offered with a larger volume engine, which produces the best possible parameters of power and torque. So, it no longer feels like a half-measure from the Skoda, as it was with the previous models. The price tag might look slightly on the higher-end, but the advanced features it offers for the safety and convenience of the buyer should not be underestimated.
