This cemetery is located between mile marker 6/7 on NM 15 NE of Silver City beside an unnamed church. The cemetery is active today. The site was visited by Al Winkeljohn in June of 2007. Pinos Altos means Tall Pines and is located 6 miles north of Silver City on NM 15. This town began in 1860 when traveling miners stopped to get a drink in Bear Creek and accidentally discovered gold. The main street of the town is like a western movie set.
