RACE: Minnie Francis McAnally Race, died Jan. 27 at Fort Bayard Medical Center. She was born Oct. 20, 1893 in Hope, Ark, the daughter of John F. and Elizabeth Jackson Burns. Mrs. Race is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Gruber of Silver City and Mrs. Dora Mae Wood of Cody, Wyo; three sisters, Mrs. Erma Bingaman of Silver City, Mrs. Carrie Hawks and Mrs. Virginia Brainard of Green Valley, Az; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was a long-time member of the O.E.S., El Paso Chapter No. 4. Funeral services were held Jan. 30 at the Curtis-Bright Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Don Wiley officiating. Interment followed at the Silver City Masonic Cemetery. Viewing was held Jan. 29. Serving as pallbearers were members of the Masonic Lodge. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cancer Society. Arrangements by the Curtis-Bright Funeral Home.

RACHFORD: Estella Mae Rachford, 84, died Sunday, July 1, at Hillcrest General Hospital. Mrs. Rachford was born in Ohio and had lived in Pinos Altos four years. She is survived by two daughters, Mary C. Fahrlender of Pinos Altos, Sylvia Rowe of Hillsboro, Ohio, a son, Joseph Rachford of South Salem, Ohio, a sister, Ruth Cary of Marshall, Ohio, two brothers, Joe Woolard of Spring Valley, Ohio, Conrad Woolard of Sabina, Ohio, twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Funeral service and burial will be in Leesburg, Ohio. Arrangements in Silver City by Curtis-Bright Funeral Home.

RACKLEY: Johnnie Dale Rackley 69, former Deming resident passed away Tuesday, Dec 1 at her home in Dallas. Visitation will be held this afternoon from 3 to 6 at Baca’s Funeral Chapels in Deming Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 Baca's Funeral Chapels with concluding services and interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery. She was born April 6, 1929, Hedley, Texas, to William Price and Eleanor May Hedricks Simmons. She came to Deming with her family 1940 and attended school Sunshine and Deming. She married James Rackley in Deming on July 4, 19?? They resided in Dallas most of their married years. She worked for Bell Telephone Co. for many years as operator and also in the counting department. Her family includes her husband James Rackley of the home a son, Scott, and his wife Lisa; two grandchildren James and Stephanie; great-granddaughter, Klyne Nicole; two sisters, N Klement of Silver City, a Kathleen Hamilton of Las Cruces; one brother, R Simmons of Deming; a many nieces, nephews a cousins. She was preceded death by her parents; a sister Nell Hughes; and two brothers, Clay and Bill Simmons. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial Contributions be made to Mimbres Valley Hospice. Entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels of Deming.

RADVILLAF: Stanley Radvillaf, 91, of Reserve died today at Gila Regional Medical Center. Arrangements are pending with Bright Funeral Home.

RAEL: Juan Serna Rael, 85, died Saturday afternoon in Siler City. Mr. Rael was born in Sherman and had been a lifelong resident. He was a communicant of the San Juan Catholic Church. He was a retired Kennecott employee and was a farmer in the Mimbres Valley. He will be remembered by family and friends as a good violinist with a great love for music; and he loved hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. Because of his knack for story telling he had many visitors up to the final day of his life. Mr. Rael is survived by his wife, Angela Rael of Sherman; one daughter, Elvira Bustamante of Santa Fe; one son-in-law, Frank Bustamante of Santa Fe; one brother, Ventura Rael of Las Cruces ; 6 grandchildren, Eddie Otero of Silver City, Rose Cardenas of Santa Fe .James Andrew Otero of the U.S. Navy, San Diego, Calif., Bernardo M. Raci Jr., .Johnny Rael and Joseph Rael, all of Silver City; and two great-grandchildren. Rosary recitation will be held at 7 tonight in the Wheeler Funeral home chapel and Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:30a.m. Tuesday in the San Juan Catholic Church in Sherman, with the Rev. Benito Suen officiating at both services. Interment will follow in the San Juan cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Luclo? De La 0, Manuel Salaiz, Comelion Chanez, Bernardo Rael Jr., Johnny Rael and Joseph Rael. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Otero, James Andrew Otero, Juan De La 0, Anselmo Roman, Eduardo Baca and Melecio Gonzales. Arrangements are by the Wheeler Funeral Home of Silver City.

RAEL: Margarito S. Rael, 62, pioneer resident of Sherman, on the Mimbres River, died the past week at his home. Rosary services were held Monday evening at the Curtis Mortuary chapel. Funeral mass was said Tuesday in the San Juan Catholic Church, burial following in the San Juan Cemetery. Survivors are two brothers, Bentura Rael of San Lorenzo and Juan Rael of Sherman; and three sisters, Mrs. Juliana Lucero of San Lorenzo; Mrs. Teresa Padilla of San Juan and Mrs. Elisia Gonzales of Albuquerque.

RAEL: Damian Rael, 75, a lifetime resident of Horse Springs, N.M. entered life eternal Friday at Fort Bayard Medical Center. He was born Jan. 27, 1916. Mr. Rael was a rancher. He was a member of the Catholic Church. The vigil service was held Sunday evening in the Santa Ana Catholic Church in Horse Springs. The funeral liturgy service was held there this morning. The committal rite service followed in the Horse Springs Cemetery, where he was laid to rest. Survivors include a son, Pedro Rael of Los Lunas; a daughter, Anita Rael Saiz of Los Lunas; a brother, Martin Rael of Aragon; and three sisters, Josie Aragon, Amadita Aragon and Crestina Rael, all of Horse Springs. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Casket bearers were Brandon Fachini, Consuelo Rael, Donaciano Aragon, Martin Rael Jr., Joe Gonzales and David Aragon. Entrusted to the care of Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels.

RAEL: Martin Rael Sr., 84, entered eternal rest Saturday at Fort Bayard Medical Center. Mr. Rael was born July 28, 1910 in Belen to Donaciano and Luciana Trujillo Rael. He was a rancher all his life and a member of Santo Nino Catholic Church in Aragon, where he made his home. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. Survivors include five sons, Daniel Rael of Alamogordo, Robert Rael, Martin Rael and Pablo Rael, all of Silver City and Edwardo Rael of Reserve; five daughters, Carmel Romero of Albuquerque, Beatrice Flores of Tularosa, Lucia Fowler of Datil and Linda Romero and Lourdes Kennedy, both of Reserve; three sisters, Amadita Aragon, Josie Aragon and Christina Rael, all of Horse Springs; twenty one grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The evening prayer vigil will be held at seven tonight at Santo Nino Catholic Church in Aragon. The Mass of resurrection will be celebrated Tuesday morning at ten at the church. The Rev. Pat Wedeking will officiate. The rite of committal will follow at the Aragon Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons. Entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels.

RAEL: Ventura Rael, 80, a former Mimbres Valley resident, died early Wednesday morning in Las Cruces. Rosary service will be Friday evening at 7 in Baca's Funeral Chapel in Deming and Mass will be Saturday morning at 10 in the San Juan Catholic Church in Sherman. The Rev. Benito Suen will officiate and interment will follow in the San Juan cemetery. He was born July 14, 1907 in San Juan and was a farmer. Survivors include a son, Anselmo of Alamogordo; a daughter, Clara Mendoza of Las Cruces; and three grandchildren. Baca's Funeral Chapel in Deming is in charge of arrangements.

RAGAZINSKAS: The Rev. Paul Ragazinskas, 76, pastor of Santa Clara Parish in Central, died Friday at his home. He was a priest of the Catholic Diocese of Las Cruces serving under Bishop Ricardo Ramirez. He had been pastor of Santa Clara for the past 18 years. The Rev. Ragazinskas was born Dec. 17, 1912, in Lithuania and studied in the seminary there. He went on to Rome for his final priestly studies, but was unable to return to Lithuania because of the war and communist occupation. He was ordained a priest on July 11, 1944, and served in Chile, Central America, until coming to the United States in 1970. He served as a parish priest and college professor in South America. He had a doctorate degree in church law and was fluent in seven languages. He was a well-read scholar and informed on international affairs. He had written several books. He was one of a group of seven Lithuanian priests who served in the El Paso, Texas and Las Cruces area after the Second World War. He was the first patient in the El Paso, Las Cruces area to undergo angioplasty surgery on his heart in 1979. The operation was featured on the front page of the El Paso Times. Visitation will be from 2 until 7 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tuesday at Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels in Silver City. The rosary service will be held at 7 Tuesday evening at Santa Clara's Catholic Church in Central. The Mass of the Christian burial will be said at Santa Clara's Wednesday morning at l0. Bishop Ramirez will be the main celebrant. Interment will follow at the Central Cemetery. The only family members remaining are in Lithuania. Memorial donations may be made to the Seminary Education Funds of the Catholic Diocese, Las Cruces, N.M. Entrusted to the care of Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels.

RAGLE: Charles G. Ragle, 55, of Morenci, Ariz., formerly of Playas, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 29, at his home after a year long battle with cancer. Family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Bright Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Cross officiating. Interment will be in Fort Bayard National Cemetery. Mr. Ragle was born March 9, 1944, in Santa Fe. He was the son of Paul H. Ragle and Elida Carpenter Ragle. Mr. Ragle married Sheila Kearns on Dec. 19, 1968, in Las Vegas, Nev. He is survived by his wife, Sheila; his mother, Mrs. Paul H. Ragle of Santa Fe; three sons, Paul Ragle, and Charlie Ragle and his wife, Raquel, all of Phoenix, and Brandon Ragle of Las Cruces; two sisters, Diana Balich and her husband, Nick, of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Margaret Ragle of Sama Fe; and one brother, Norman Ragle, and his wife, Linda, of Lake City, Colo. Mr. Ragle was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Ragle Jr., in 1949; a sister, Barbara Ragle, in 1973; his niece, Tammy Ragle, in 1981; and his father, Paul H. Ragle, in 1992. Mr. Ragle attended Wood Gormley Elementary and Harrington Junior High, and graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1963. He moved to Silver City to attend Western New Mexico University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. Mr. Ragle worked for his parents at Ragle Rent-A-Car and Ragle's Mobile. He also worked at the McCauley ranch in Cliff, and Beggs Cattle Co. in Fence Lake. He proudly served his country as a Marine from 1966-68 during the Vietnam conflict. The summer he returned from Vietnam, he went fishing with his father and mother in Lake City. It was during this time that he met his beautiful wife, Sheila Kathleen Kearns. After they were married, in 1968, they moved to Silver City and he started his career with Phelps Dodge, remaining there from 1971 until 1976. Mr. Ragle and his family moved to Playas, where he continued his career with Phelps Dodge. They lived in Playas until he was transferred to Morenci, in September 1998. They remained in Morenci until his death. He was a devoted husband and father, terrific brother, and a loyal friend and employee. Pallbearers for Mr. Ragle's service will be Paul Ragle, Charlie Ragle, Brandon Ragle, Norm Ragle, Sam Balich and Steve Balich. Honorary bearers are Ray Ellis, Ray Bell, Albert Moras, Joe Dennis, Don Sloan, Nics? Balichard and Rusty McCauley. Bright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

RAINS: David (Dad) Rains, 92, pioneer of Silver City and for 26 years landscaper and gardener of New Mexico State Teachers College. now Western University, died last Friday in Cochise County Hospital in Douglas, Ariz. Funeral services were held Monday at the Curtis Mortuary chapel with burial following in the Masonic Cemetery. Conducting the rites was Stanley Sherman of the Church of Christ. Born in 1874 in Travis County. Texas, Mr. Rains came to Silver City in 1900. During the years he was employed at the college he made the campus the most beautiful site in this community. Students respected him for his unfailing friendship. Surviving are six children, 21 grandchildren, 42 great grand children, five great, great grand children; two sisters and one brother.

RAINS: Lewis C. Rains, 77, a resident of Silver City for 40 years, died Thursday at his home. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Jenny G. Rains; three brothers D. C. Rains, Silver City; Charles B. Rains, Roswell; Wylie P. Rains, Davis Dam, sisters, Mrs. Paul Ferguson, Silver City; Mrs. W. J. Wings, Luna, Ariz., and Mrs. N. E. Johnson, Globe, Ariz. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the COX mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Clarence Crow officiating. Silver City Masonic Lodge No. 8 conducted graveside committal rites in Silver City cemetery.

RAINS: Lou Gene Rains, 81, of Deming, died Monday, April 4, at Hillcrest General Hospital in Silver City. She is survived by her husband,' Earl F. Rains of Deming; a daughter, Betty June McCarcy, of Deming; two grandchildren, William Earl of San Jose, Calif. and Timothy Michael of Riverside, Calif., and two great grandchildren. She will be taken to El Paso for cremation. Arrangements were by the Wheeler Funeral Home in Silver City.

RAINS: Silver City lost another of its pioneer residents last Wednesday in the death of Mrs. William D. Rains, 81, who had lived in Grant County for many years. Surviving are her husband, W. D. (Dad) Rains; a son; William D.Rains Jr., Bisbee, Arizona; five daughters, Mrs. Louise Rogers, Des Arc, Ark.; Mrs. Dorothy Baker, Bisbee; Mrs. Harriett Cooper, Tuirahut, Washington, Mrs. Beth Barnum, San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Lena Cooper, Duncan, Arizona: 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday at the Curtis Mortuary chapel the Rev. Joseph Sherman of the Silver City Church of Christ conducted the rites. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery.

RAINS: Mrs. Paul Ferguson of Silver City received a message this week of the death of her brother, Wyly Rains, in a hospital at Las Vegas, Nevada, following a long illness. Funeral services and burial took place in Las Vegas.


RALSTON: A double funeral was held Monday in the Curtis Mortuary Chapel for Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Ralston of Silver City. Last rites for Mary Jane Ralston, 53, a former nurse and anesthetist who died Tuesday in an El Paso hospital following a long illness were originally scheduled for Saturday. The funeral plans were changed after Mr. Ralston died in Hillcrest General Hospital Friday night from injuries received in a traffic accident on the morning of Oct. 19. The Ralston’s are survived by two sons, Jerry, of Silver City, and Robert, of San Bernardino, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Talcott of Washington, D. C., and a grandson. Eugene Ralston operated a barbershop in Bayard. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, member of the Masonic Lodge, Hurley and a past-exalted ruler of the Silver City Elks Lodge. The Rev. Dan Loomis of the First Presbyterian Church in Silver City and the Rev. Keith Bonny of the First Methodist Church in Bayard officiated at the dual rites. Burial was made in Memory Lane Cemetery.

RALSTON: Harry R. Ralston, 64, of Casa Grande, Ariz., and formerly of Silver City, died Sunday, May 7, in the family home. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and was an ordinance engineer in the Navy. He was employed at the reduction plant at Chino Mines from 1973-87. He is survived by his wife, Jean, of Casa Grande; one daughter, Jean Garcia of Maryland; one son, Pfc. Bruce G. Ralston of Fort Bliss, Texas; one brother, William Bruce Ralston of Franklin, Ohio; and two granddaughters, also of Maryland. Graveside services will be Thursday at 9 a.m. in the Casa Grande Mountain View Cemetery, and honorary pallbearers will be Dan White of Pinos Altos, David Kinneberg and Ross Collins, both of Silver City, G. Reed Bingham and John Lane of Ohio, Dale Teel of Washington, and Gene Bunnell and Ray S. Clark, both of Albuquerque. A memorial service will be May 19 at 2 p.m. in the First Assembly of God Church in Casa Grande. Friends and relatives may contribute to the Harry R. Ralston Memorial Scholarship Fund, Arizona State University, Tempe, Ariz.

RAMIREZ: Mary Lou Ramirez, 44, a former Deming resident, died Tuesday at the University of New Mexico Hospital Albuquerque. Visitation will be held Friday afternoon from 1-7 at Baca's Funeral Chapels in Deming and the funeral service will be held there Saturday morning at 10 with the Rev. Van Bevill, pastor of the Victory Assembly of God Church, and the Rev. Weldon Coker, pastor of the Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. She was born June 19, 1951, in Deming to Leonardo Ramirez and Mariana Levario Ramirez. She was a Deming resident until 1970 when she moved to Silver City. Ms. Ramirez was a nurse's aide at Sunset Vista Adult Residential Care Center in Silver City and a member of the Victory Assembly of God Church in Bayard. Survivors include her four sons, Manuel Castro Jr. and his wife, Patty, of Milwaukee, Richard Gal1osa Jr. of Deming, Jesse Gallosa and his wife, Marina, and their sons, Jesse Gallosa Jr. and Joey Gallosa, of Central, and Joseph Arroyo of Central; two daughters, Carol Gallosa of Central and Lisa Arroyo of Silver City; her father, Leonardo Ramirez of Downey, Calif. her fiancé, Robert Salaiz of Silver City; six brothers, Leonardo Ramirez Jr. of Silver City, Sal Ramirez of East Los Angeles and Luis Ramirez, Ray Ramirez, Tony Ramirez and Jorge Ramirez, all of Downey; a sister, Josie Hernandez of Arenas Valley and five grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Ernest Costales, Joe Costalas, Tim Hernandez, Ray Woods Sr., Ferni Flores, and Epimenio Lavario. Entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapel.

RAMIREZ: Fructuoso L. Ramirez, 88, a resident of Bayard, died in the Fort Bayard Medical center early Friday morning. He was born Jan. 21, 1900, in Fierro and was a blacksmith at the New Jersey Zinc Co. until his retirement in 1965. He was a member of the Catholic Church and was past president of Lodge No. 54 of the Alianza Hispana Americana. Prior to being a resident at the Fort Bayard Medical Center he was at Sunshine Haven Nursing Home in Lordsburg for seven years. Calling hours will be from 2-5 Monday afternoon in Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels. The rosary service will be at 7 that evening in Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Bayard and the Mass of the Christian burial will be there at 10 Wednesday morning. The Rev. Ricardo Hinojal will officiate and interment will follow in the Hanover Cemetery. Survivors include two sons, Arcadio Ramirez of Bayard and Albert Ramirez of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Eugenia Perez of Sunnyvale, Calif.; three sisters, Frances Gonzales of Cypress, Calif., Maria Duran of Silver City and Emilia Garcia of Hurley; eight grandchildren, Mena Ramirez Mellman, Ana Ramirez Kelley, Albert, Hector and Manuel Ramirez, Rita Perez Schumann, Christina Perez Martinez and Mary Lou Ramirez Rodriguez; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ramon, Agustin and Jose Ramirez, and a sister, Urbana Leyba. Casket bearers will be Albert Kelley, Jerry Mellman, Manuel Ramirez, Robert Ramirez Jr., Joe Salaiz and Tony Valencia. Entrusted to the care of Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels.

RAMIREZ: Visitation for Armando Ramirez, 29, of Deming will be from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Baca's Funeral Chapels where the prayer vigil will begin at 6 p.m. Services will be held Monday in Palomas, Mexico. Ramirez died Tuesday in Norfolk, Neb. Survivors include his wife, Diane Ramirez; son, Armando Ismeal Ramirez; daughters, Melissa Margarita Ramirez and Kyelene Alexanderia Ramirez, all of Deming; grandmother, Nicolasa Camacho; brothers, Francisco Salinas of Mexico City, Mexico, and Hector Ramirez of Palomas; and sisters, Irma Ramirez of Palomas, Rosalba Chavez of Columbus and Dolores Coronado of Palomas.

RAMIREZ: Candelario A. Ramirez of Hurley died Tuesday morning at the Hillcrest General Hospital. He was a native of Mexico but had lived almost all his life in Hurley. He was a retired Kennecott Copper Corporation employee. He is survived by his wife, Victoria Ramirez of Hurley; a son, Manuel of San Francisco, Calif.; a brother, Antonio Sifuentes of Silver City and four grandsons. Rosary will be held in the Curtis Mortuary Chapel on Friday at 7 p.m. and Mass will be at the Infant Jesus Church in Hurley on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Ramon Estivill officiating. Burial will follow in the Hurley Cemetery.

RAMIREZ: Gaspar Ramirez, resident of Anthony, Texas, died in Santa Fe Wednesday morning. He was a longtime resident of Grant County. Survivors are his wife, Adelaida of Santa Fe; two daughters, Theresa Chacon and her husband, Gaspar of Santa Fe, and Consolacion Baca of Santa Fe; and five grandchildren. Visitation will be held at the Berardinelli Mortuary from 3 p.m. Friday to the time of the rosary at 7 P.M. Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10a.m. Saturday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Rosario cemetery in Saul a Fe. Pallbearers will be Ruben Grijak, Tommy Ryan Sr., Ambrusto Ambriz, Simon Munoz Sr., Eddie Romero and Gonzalo Gomez Jr. Arrangements are by Berardinelli

RAMIREZ: Gilbert. M. Ramirez, 41, died Saturday in El Paso, Texas. He was a Communicant of the St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and had worked as a Console operator at U.V. Industries. He is survived by his wife Sally; two daughters, Christina and Yvonne Ramirez; one son, Guy Ramirez; one sister, Olga Correa, all of Silver City; his mother, Mariana Ramirez; and one brother Jose Roberto Ramirez of Bayard.. Rosary recitation and the Mass of the Resurrection was in the St. Vincent de Paul Church Sunday evening and Monday morning with Monsignor A. James Milano officiating. Interment followed at Fierro Cemetery. Pallbearers were Elmer Romero, Fidel Jacques, Paul Trejo, Russ Provencio, Armando Jacques and Jesse Ogas. Arrangements were by the Wheeler Funeral Home of Silver City.

RAMIREZ: Juana Gonzales Ramirez, 86, died Monday in Gila Regional Medical Center. She was born June 24; 1899, in San Juan to Ponziano and Librada Gonzales and lived her full life in Grant County. She was a communicant of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She is survived by her husband, Juan Ramirez, whom she married in San Lorenzo on Dec. 28, 1920; three sons, Mr. and Mrs. Manuel G. Ramirez of Central, Mr. and Mrs. Gregorio G. Ramirez of San Lorenzo and Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo G. Ramirez of Bayard; four daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Crescencio (Fernanda) Garcia of Mammoth, Ariz., Mr. and. Interment will be in Shakespeare Cemetery in Lordsburg. Mrs. Ramirez was horn Feb. 22, 1927, in Juarez, Mexico. She was the daughter of Primitivo Sanchez and Edwarda Gonzales Sanchez. Mrs. Ramirez married Tranquilino Ramirez in 1949 in Juarez. She is survived by four sons, Eusevio Sanchez of Lordsburg, Vicente Ramirez of Fort Hancock, Texas, Tranquilino Ramirez Jr. of Animas and David Ramirez of Animas; seven daughters, Vera More of Hachita, Olga Lopez of Lordsburg, Hortencia Caizada of Anthony, Lupe Granados of Orlando, Fla.; Mary Rogers of Roswell, Nancy Wong of Phoenix and Olivia McDonald of Silver City; 32 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four brothers, Juan, Daniel and Pedro Sanchez, all of Juarez, and Francisco Sanchez of Fort Hancock; and one sister, Catalina Sanchez of Fargo, N.D. RAMIREZ: Mrs. Rita Grado Ramirez, 57, a life-long resident of Grant County, died Wednesday. Surviving is her husband, Frustoso Ramirez, and other relatives. Rosary services will be held in the Cox Mortuary chapel at 7:30 p.m. Friday, followed by Saturday morning at 10 o'clock in the Hurley Catholic church. Burial will take place in the Harley cemetery at 4:30 Saturday afternoon.

RAMIREZ: Simon A. Ramirez, 26, a former Santa Rita resident and brother of Pasqual Ramirez of Silver City, died suddenly, after stricken ill Sunday, Sept. 15, Los Angeles, Calif. The deceased was a 1961 graduate of Cobre High School, and in Los Angeles had been employed by the Occidental Life Insurance Company. Burial was held on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Resurrection Cemetery in Los Angeles under the direction of Mirabal Mortuary. Among the pallbearers were Mario Yniquez of Bayard and Albert Trujillo of Central. Survivors of the deceased, other than Pasqual Ramirez of Silver City, include his mother, Mrs. Adela Ramirez of Hatch; his sister, Mrs. Rosinda Alvarado of Phoenix, Ariz.; two other brothers, Florencio Ramirez of Los Angeles and, Rubin Diaz from Hatch; his, maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Abundio Ambriz of Hatch; and three uncles, Joe Ambriz and Ambrosio Ambriz of Bayard, and Agapito Ambriz, who is serving overseas with the U.S. Air Force.

RAMIREZ: Tranquilino Ramirez, 84, of Lordsburg passed away Saturday, Dec. 19, at Gila Regional Medical Center. The rosary will be recited at 7 this evening at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's with Father Tony Clark officiating. Interment will be in Shakespeare Cemetery. Mr. Ramirez was born July 6, 1914, in Chihuahua, Mexico. He was the son of Jose Ramirez and Guadalupe Anchondo Ramirez. He married Margarita Sanchez in 1949. She preceded him in death Jan. 31, 1998. RAMIREZ: Alfred M. Ramirez, 52 of 1031 E. Calle Antonia, Tucson, died February 25, 1972. He was the husband of Frances Ramirez of Tucson, the father of Gloria Lucero of Central and Eddie Ramirez of Green Valley Arizona, and had three grandchildren. He was the son of Carolina Castillo of Silver City; the brother of Rito Ortiz, of San Lorenzo, Tony Ramirez and Cruz Castillo, both of California. Mr. Ramirez was a building officer for the Veterans Administration Hospital at Tucson and had been employed by the VA for 31 years. He was a member of the NEHA, Inc., old Pueblo Chapter of Tucson; American Legion Post 91. Central; a member of Santa Monica's Catholic Church Tucson and was a Veteran of World War II. Rosary was said Monday at the Curtis-Bright Funeral Home, the funeral mass of Tuesday at the Santa Clara Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Ragazinskas officiating. Interment followed in the Ft. Bayard VA Cemetery with the Bayard VFW Honor Guard performing military graveside rites. Pallbearers were Abe Bustamante, Sam Corral, Fred Leyba, Frank Duran, Enrique Trejo, and Don Smith. In lieu of flowers, the family, the family has requested the donations be made the American Cancer Society.

RAMIREZ: Beatrice R. Ramirez, 82, formerly of Hanover, died in Sierra Vista, Ariz., on Jan. 13. She was preceded in death by her husband, Augustin L. Ramirez Sr., in January 1977. She is survived by four sons, Johnny of Canoga Park, Calif., Augustin (Leo) Ramirez Jr. of Sierra Vista, Louis of Pico Rivera, Calif., and Ruben of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Augustin (Sarge) Martinez of Irwindale, Calif.; a sister, Eugenia Colin of Oxnard, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Rosary was recited Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. and Mass was celebrated Jan. 16 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church in Tucson. Burial followed in Holly Hope Cemetery, also in Tucson.

RAMIREZ: Ben V. Ramirez, 59, died in Silver City. Ben was born in Hurley, NM and had been a lifelong resident of Grant County. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Silver City and of the Local I.A.M. Union. He is survived by his wife Erlinda E. Ramirez of Silver City; one daughter, Betty Hayes of Central; one son, Louie Madred of North Olmsted, Ohio; his mother, Elena Ramirez of Bayard; three sisters, Tessie Chavez of Lodi, CA, Tillie Calderon of Tucson, Az, and Minnie Vasquez of Santa Fe Springs, Ca; two brothers, Manuel C. Ramirez of Venice, Ca, and Gilbert Ramirez of Santon, Ca and four grandchildren. Visitations were at the Wheeler Funeral Home Chapel and Funeral Services were held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Church in Silver City, with Bishop Gary Stailey officiating. Interment followed at the Fort Bayard National Cemetery with the Allingham-Golding Post conducting military honors. Serving as pallbearers were Arthur Maldonado, Bill Maldonado, Leo Majalca, Mike Elias, Bobby Calderon and Frank Esquer. Honorary pallbearers were Louis M. Maldonado, Robert Hayes, Manuel C. RAMIREZ: Eusebio N. Ramirez, 62, a resident of Cotton City, entered life eternal Thursday at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was born March 5, 1930, in El Paso, Texas, the son of Victor and Maria (De Jesus) Ramirez. He had resided in Cotton City since 1978. He was a Roman Catholic by faith and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lordsburg. Survivors include his wife, Elva Ramirez of Cotton City; his son, Joseph Alfredo Ramirez of Las Cruces; three daughters, Yolanda Zamarripa of Cotton City, Martha Dominguez of San Manuel, Ariz., and Luz Maria Robles of Cotton City; six brothers; three sisters; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Manuela Silva. Calling hours will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday with the prayer vigil starting at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph's. RAMIREZ: Francisco Ramirez Jr., 56, a lifelong resident of Bayard, passed away Thursday at his home. He was born June 22, 1939 to Francisco and Maria (Ortiz) Ramirez in Santa Rita. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He was a well-known, self-employed mechanic in the Grant County area. Mr. Ramirez enjoyed watching sports on television, listening to music and dancing. He is survived by his companion of 24 years, Jessie Torres of Bayard; three daughters, Betty Ramirez and Helen Ramirez of Grants, and Emma Ramirez of Silver city; a son, Francisco Ramirez III and his wife, Alicia, of Silver City; two sisters, Rosemary Arrellin and her husband, Domingo, of Silver City and Lilly Lopez and her husband, Ralph, of Pomona, Calif; two brothers, Ramon Ramirez and his wife, Susie, of Hurley and Henry Ramirez of Azusa, Calif.; an aunt, Rita Ortiz of Mimbres; two uncles, Tony Ramirez and his wife, Emilia, of Azusa and Cruz Castillo of Los Angeles; his grandchildren, Sabrena Marquez, Miguel Hernandez and Francisco Ramirez IV, all of Silver City; and several nieces and nephews. RAMIREZ: Fructuoso L. Ramirez, 88, a resident of Bayard, died in the Fort Bayard Medical Center early Friday morning. He was born Jan. 21, 1900, in Fierro and was a blacksmith at the New Jersey Zinc, Co. until his retirement in 1965. He was a member of the Catholic Church and was past president of Lodge No. 54 of the Alianza Hispana Americana. Prior to being a resident at the Fort Bayard Medical Center he was at Sunshine Haven Nursing Home in Lordsburg for seven years. Calling hours will be from 2-5 Monday afternoon in Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels. The rosary service will be at 7 that evening in Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Bayard and the Mass of the Christian burial will be there at 10 Wednesday morning. The Rev. Ricardo Hinojal will officiate and interment will follow in the Hanover Cemetery. Survivors include two sons, Arcadio Ramirez of Bayard and Albert Ramirez of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Eugenia Perez of Sunnyvale, Calif.; three sisters, Frances Gonzales of Cypress, Calif., Maria Duran of Silver City and Emilia Garcia of Hurley; eight grandchildren, Mena Ramirez Mellman, Ana Ramirez Kelley, Albert, Hector and Manuel Ramirez, Rita Perez Schumann, Christina Perez Martinez and Mary Lou Ramirez Rodriguez, 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephew. RAMIREZ: Guadalupe Nava Ramirez, 66, a Lordsburg resident, died Tuesday at the University Hospital in Albuquerque. The prayer vigil will be held this evening at 7:30 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lordsburg and Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated there Saturday morning at 11 with the Rev. Karl A. Polm-Faudre officiating. The rite of committal will follow at Shakespeare Cemetery in Lordsburg. She was born April 22, 1928, in Virden and was a homemaker. She was a lifelong Lordsburg resident and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Mrs. Ramirez devoted herself to being a full-time wife and mother. Survivors include her husband, Manuel Ramirez Sr. of Lordsburg; two sons, Manuel Ramirez Jr. of Lordsburg and Gilbert Ramirez of Granbury, Texas; two daughters, Mary Ramirez of Lordsburg and Terry Ramirez of Tucson, Ariz.; two brothers, Santiago and Jose Tarango, both of Lordsburg; four sisters, Concha Madero of Las Cruces, and Vickie Leyva, Carmen Tarango and Margaret Isham Rabb, all of Lordsburg; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. RAMIREZ: Isidro "Chilo" Ramirez, 73, of Norwalk, Calif., passed away June 15. Mr. Ramirez was born May 15, 1918, in Fierro to Antonio and Maria Ramirez. He was preceded in death by his father, Antonio Ramirez, in 1942, his sister, Mercy Triviso, in 1984, and his mother, Maria Ramirez, in 1987. Mr. Ramirez attended Fierro Public School and Hurley High School. He later moved to Gold Road, Ariz., and worked at a mine. He came back to Silver City and worked in the Peru and Kearney mines in Hanover. In 1957, he moved to Norwalk, where he resided until the time of his death. In 1987, he retired from Sealy Mattress Co. in Southgate, Calif., after working there for several years. He is survived by his wife, Lupe Ramirez of Norwalk; two sons, Dickie Ramirez of Albuquerque and Vince Ramirez and his wife, Yolanda, of Mission Viejo, Calif.; two daughters, Sylvia Marron and her husband, Manuel, of Los Angeles and Sandi Bloecher and her husband, Bob, of Yucca Valley, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jesse Ramirez and his wife, Toni, of Madera, Calif., and Frank Ramirez and his wife, Dee, of Azusa, Calif.; three sisters, Minnie Orozco and her husband, Chemo, of Compton, Calif., Isabel Chavez and her husband, Joe, of Downey, Calif., and Socorro Ramirez and her husband, Louis, of Pico River, Calif.; and several nephews and nieces. Funeral services were held at Rose Hills Chapel in Whittier, Calif. Interment was at Rose Hills Cemetery in Whittier. The vigil service was said by Frank Ramirez and the eulogy was said by Elias Galvan. Deacon Cris Vega officiated at the graveside services.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jose L. Ramirez, on October 4, 1975 and by a brother, Gilbert Ramirez, in 1985. RAMIREZ: Mr. Jose L. Ramirez, 66, died at his residence in Bayard on Friday. Mr. Ramirez was a native of Hanover and had lived in Grant County all of his life. He was a retired Crane operator for Kennecott Copper Corporation. Survivors include his wife, Marianna of Bayard; one daughter, Mrs. Olga Correa of Hurley; two sons, Gilbert of Silver City and Bobby Joe of Bayard; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Maria Duran of Fierro, Mrs. Francisca Gonzales of Buena Park, CA., and Mrs. Emilia Garcia of Hurley; and two brothers, Mr. Frutoso Ramirez of Bayard and Mrs. Agustine Ramirez of Tucson, AZ.

RAMIREZ: Juan Ramirez, 97, a resident of Bayard, passed away Sunday at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was married to Juana Gonzales on Dec. 28, 1920, in San Lorenzo and was preceded in death by her on June 2, 1986. He was a World War I veteran and served in France and Germany. He is survived by three daughters, Fernanda Garcia and her husband, Crescencio, of Mammoth, Ariz., and Josepha Gonzales and her husband, Edward, and Maria Gonzales and her husband, Joe, of Silver City; three sons, Manuel Ramirez and wife, Rosa, of Central, Gregorio G. Ramirez and his wife, Isabel, of San Lorenzo, and Lorenzo G. Ramirez and his wife, Molly, of Bayard; 27 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Rosary will be recited tonight at 7 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Bayard. Mass of the Christian burial will be said Wednesday at 10 a.m., also at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, with the Rev. Ricardo Hinojal as celebrant. Interment will follow in Memory Lane Cemetery with full military honors being conducted by American Legion Allingham-Golding Post No. 18. RAMIREZ: Lina S. Ramirez, 76, passed away Friday, February 22, in Hillcrest General Hospital. Mrs. Ramirez was born in Garfield, New Mexico, and had lived in the Grant County area for 60 years where she was a member of the Apostolic Assembly Church, the Senior Citizens of Silver City and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Apostolic Church. She is survived by a daughter, Carmen J. Silva of Albuquerque, a son-in-law, Agapito Silva, Sr., also of Albuquerque, two sisters, Jesusita Lucero of Bayard, Annie S. Puschell of St. Mary’s, Ohio, a brother, E.A. Silva of Bayard, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Evening services were held Tuesday, Feb. 26, in the Curtis-Bright Chapel. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 27 at the Curtis-Bright Chapel with Pastor Abel O. Jimenez officiating at both services. Interment followed in Memory Lane Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Encarnacion Silva, Benny Silva, Agapito Silva, Jr., Bernardo J. Silva, Eli Lucero and Adam C. Silva.

RAMIREZ: Lupe Loera Ramirez, 76, a resident of Norwalk, Calif., and former resident of Silver City, entered eternal life Tuesday, Oct. 27, in Norwalk. She was born Dec. 5, 1915, in Silver City to Edwardo and Petra Jaramillo Loera. Mrs. Ramirez was preceded in death by her husband, Chilo Ramirez, in June 1991. She is survived by two sons, Richard Ramirez of Albuquerque, and Vince Ramirez and his wife, Yolanda, of Mission Viejo, Calif.; two daughters, Sylvia Marron and her husband, Manuel, of Los Angeles, and Sandi Bloecher and her husband, Robert, of Yucca Valley, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Guillermo Loera of Silver City and Joaquin Loera of Florida; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. The prayer vigil was held at Rosehills Funeral Home in Whittier, Calif. on Friday, Oct. 30. Frank Ramirez recited the prayer vigil and Elias Galvan said the eulogy. The funeral liturgy was celebrated Saturday, Oct. 31, at Rosehills Chapel. Casket bearers were her grandsons. The rite of committal followed at Rosehills Cemetery, where she was laid to rest.

RAMIREZ: Maria Ramirez a former longtime resident of Silver City, died May 21 in Pico Downey Golden Age Nursing Home in Downey, Calif., following a short illness. She was born to Jesus Galvan and Herminia Luna in Tlasasalca, Michoacan, Mexico, on Aug. l7, l899. Her family came to live in Fierro in l912. She married Antonio Ramirez in August of l9l4, and he preceded her in death in l942. Mrs. Ramirez moved to Silver City in l944 and lived here until she moved to California in l957. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Chilo and Lupe Ramirez, Jesse and Toni Ramirez, and Frank and Dee Ramirez, all of California; and her daughters and sons-in-law, Chemo and Minnie Orozco, Joe and Isabel Chavez, and Louis and Socorro Ramirez, also all of California; 37 grandchildren; 7l great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren; her brothers, Felipe, Tony, Elias and Joe Galvan; her sisters, Rebecca Chavia, Juanita Romero, Carmen Lucero and Susie Maldonado; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Cruzita Valenzuela in l974 and her daughter Mercy Triviso in l984. Rosary was said Friday, May 22, at Miller, Mies, McComb Mortuary Chapel in Downey and Mass of the Christian Burial was Saturday in the St. Mariana de Pareles Catholic Church in Pico Rivera, Calif. Interment was in Rose Hill Memorial park in Whittier, Calif. The Rev. Gerald McSorley, Deacon Cris Vega and Frank Ramirez were officiants at the Mass. Pallbearers were Vince Ramirez, Joe Chavez Jr., Louis Ramirez Jr., Jesse Ramirez Jr., Roy Ramirez and Mark Ramirez.

She is survived by her daughter, Pilar Baker of Lordsburg; a son, Nicholas Escalante and his wife, Martha of El Paso, Texas; and five grandchildren. RAMIREZ: Rosary services for Mrs. Victoria L. Ramirez, 94, were held in the Curtis-Bright Funeral Chapel at 7 p.m. Sunday with the funeral mass being recited in the Infant Jesus Catholic Church in Hurley at 9 a.m. Monday. Interment followed in the Hurley Cemetery with the Rev. Fr. Paul Ragazinskas officiating. Mrs. Ramirez was a native of Casa Grande, Mexico and has lived in Hurley for the past 35 years. Her husband, Candelario, preceded her in death in 1969. RAMIREZ: Joe F. Ramirez, Sr, 64, of Silver City died at home Thursday. Mr. Ramirez was born March 3, in La Mesa to Francisco Ramirez and Olaya Ramirez, on March 1, he married Vickie in Las Cruces and they enjoyed 45 years together. He was a self-employed businessman, and a member of St. Francis Newman Center Catholic Church. He served on the board of councilors and later board of directors for the United New Mexico Bank of Alamogordo, for-Security Bank and was an active member of the Alamogordo chamber of Commerce. He survived by his wife, of the home; a son, Joe Ramirez Jr., of Bayard; a grandson, Quinton Tyler of Alamogordo; two daughters, Francis Tellez and Eva Trujillo, both of California and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Francisco and Olaya Ramirez; two brothers, Daniel and Alfredo Ramirez; a sister, Consuelo Ramirez and an infant son, Nicky S. Ramirez. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Monday at Baca's Funeral Chapels Silver City. The prayer vigil will follow at 7PM with the Deacon Johnnie Perez reciting the rosary. RAMOS: Funeral services for Martha J. Ramos, 8, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rafael P. Ramos, were held Saturday with the Rev. Fr. Ramon Estivill officiating. Rosary services were held Friday evening at the family home in Hurley. The little girl died Friday at Hillcrest General Hospital. Besides her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Gilbert and David. Burial was in the Hurley Cemetery following services at 4 p.m. at the Infant Jesus Church.

RAMOS: Mrs. Fransisca Ramos, 71, who bad lived In Silver City for 23 years, died last Thursday. Only immediate survivor is a nephew, Reuben K Ramos of Silver City. Miss Ramos was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, May 29, 1888, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesus Herrera. She was 25 years old when she came to the United States, locating in El Paso with two sisters, and a nephew, Reuben Ramos. They left Mexico during a revolution in which Poncho Villa was leading a rebel force opposing the government. Residing in El Paso from 1913 to 1935, she came to Gila with her nephew, his wife and a sister, who passed away in 1939. In 1928 she met the S. I. Villarreal family in El Paso and thereafter made frequent trips to the Mimbres Hot Springs for medical treatment during the lifetime of Dr. R. F. Stovall, She reared her nephew, Reuben Ramos, from the time be was five months old and he and her sister worked to put him through elementary and high school, and thereafter he went to work to support them. Among Reuben's employers were U. S. District Judge R E Thomason and Attorney, Tom Lea, Sr, In El Paso. Rosary services were held Friday at 7-30 pm. at the Cox Mortuary chapel Mass was said at 9 am, Saturday in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Rito Dominguez, Julian Villarreal, Manual Dominguez, Crescencio Dominguez, Refugio Richarte and Hoyt Taylor. RAMOS: Reuben H. Ramos, 74, died Tuesday morning at his residence at Cotile Lake, Boyce, La. He was born in Eagle Pass Texas, and was a longtime resident of Gila where he was owner and operator of D&R Grocery. Survivors are his wife, Laura V. Ramos of Cotile Lake; two daughters, Alice L. Austin of Cotile Lake and Mary I. Verheyderi of Deville, La.; two sons, Reuben R., Ramos, Cotile Lake, and Reynaldo I. Ramos, Overlin, La.; 12 grandchildren and 14 foster children. She was preceded in death by a son, Frank C. Ramos, in 1972. She was a member and past sergeant-at-arms of American Legion Post No. 18 in Silver City. She was lifelong resident and was very active as a volunteer for the Fort Bayard Medical Center. RAMOS: Soltero M. Ramos, 82, died Friday in Silver City. He was born in Mexico, but was a resident of Silver City since 1958. Soltero is survived by his wife, Teodora Ramos of Silver City; four daughters, Alejandrina Gray of Bayard, Sylvia Hernandez, Jesus (Chuy) Ramos and Abigail Trujillo, all of Silver City; four sons, Moises Ramos of El Paso, Javier Ramos, Saul Ramos and Salvador Ramos, all of Silver City and six grandchildren. RAMOS: Francisco M. Ramos, 72, a 40-year resident of Hurley, passed away Thursday at his home. He was born in Mesilla on May 24, 1923, the son of Jose and Maria Ramos. At an early age he moved to Hurley in search of employment. He worked as a crusher operator with Kennecott Copper Corp. until his call to active service with the U.S. Army. He served as a rifleman with Company B, 44th Armored Infantry during World War II. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with Bronze Battle Star for his service during the Rhineland Campaign. After his discharge from the Army he returned to Hurley and worked for Kennecott until his retirement in 1965. He was a member of Allingham -Golding Post No. 18 of the American Legion, past commander of the Disabled American Veterans, and a member of the Trench Rats. Survivors include his wife, Manuela Ramos of the family home; his daughters, Nancy Bencomo and her husband, Felix, of Tucson Ariz., Stella Hague and her husband, Paul, of Phoenix, Merlinda Davies of Tucson, and Patsy Bell and her husband, Frank, of Lordsburg; two stepdaughters, Miriam and Ayde Molina of Hurley; and three daughters-in-law, Sylvia Ramos, Rosemary Ramos and Maryann Ramos. Other survivors include his brother, Enrique Hovey of Las Cruces; four sisters, Mabel Banegas and Minda Medina, both of Las Cruces, and Lilly Medina and Emma Medina, both of California; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; Sarah C. He was a foreman at the Santa Rita mine of Kennecott Copper Corp. and well known throughout the mining district. RAMSEY: Joseph R Ramsey, 47, a resident of Central, died Monday at Fort Bayard Veterans hospital. He was a veteran of World War II. Survivors are two sons, Joseph, Jr., at Snowflake, AZ and George of Oregon. Two brothers, George of Central and James of Alamogordo; a sister, Mary R. Cook and a grandson, Freddie Ramsey of Snowflake. Funeral services were held Wednesday in the chapel at Fort Bayard, Protestant Chaplain Henry Meredith officiating. Burial was in the Fort Bayard Cemetery under direction of the Curtis Mortuary.

RAMSEY: Mrs. Fred Ramsey died Sunday, Dec. 26,at the William Beaumont General hospital, El Paso, where she had been taken for treatment some four months ago. She was 54 years of age. Mrs.. Ramsey is survived by her husband, Fred Ramsey of Silver City; two daughters, Mrs. Oscar Luschei of Silver City and Miss Lois Brackert of the Panama Canal Zone; a sister, Mrs. R. F. Hattrup of Redondo Beach, Calif.; and four brothers, Frank Wilson of Las Cruces Harry and Archie of Yakima Wash.; and Tom Wilson of Selah Wash. Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon from the First Methodist church, with the Rev John Carpenter officiating.

RAMSEY: Funeral services for Elmer Ramsey, 61, of Garland, Texas, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at New Liberty Baptist Church in Garland, with the Rev. Ken Ashlock and the Rev. Floyd Erwin officiating. Mr. Ramsey was born April 9, 1930, in New Mexico. He passed away Aug. 6 in a Garland hospital. Mr. Ramsey was a manager for Safeway Stores and a member of New Liberty Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Hallie Ramsey of Garland; his mother, Mabel Ramsey of Silver City; sons and daughters-in-law, E. Roy and Millie Ramsey of Sachse, Texas, and Jack F. and Elizabeth Ramsey of Lewisville, Texas; brothers-in-law, W.A. Buckner of Mesquite, Texas, and S.J. Buckner of Ada, Okla.; sisters-in law, Lillian Adams of Dallas and Sadie Buck of Coldwell, Texas; and five grandchildren. Interment will be in Pleasant Mound Cemetery in Dallas.

RAMSEY: Fred R. Ramsey (Uncle Fred), 84, died April 29 at Fort Bayard Medical Center. Mr. Ramsey, born in Woodruff, Ariz., was a lifelong resident of Grant County. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Silver City, charter member of the United Methodist Men's Club, past member of the United Methodist Official Board, a boy scout in Silver City in 1910, a truant officer and school bus driver in the Silver City School System. Mr. Ramsey served four years as Grant County commissioner, two of those as chairman, and was past member of Memory Lane Cemetery Board, Silver City Library Board and Hillcrest General Hospital Board. He was also a member of the Bayard and Silver City Odd Fellows Lodges, the Silver City Rebekah Lodge No. 34, and was a World War I Navy veteran. In 1966 he was selected Pioneer Citizen by the Southwestern New Mexico Historical Society and in 1976 was marshal of the Fourth of July parade. He is survived by his wife, Roberta Ramsey of Silver City; three step-daughters, Lois Holaday of Aurora, Colo., Elaine Cann of Tucson, Ariz., Patricia Hernandez of Silver City; one son, Kenneth Franklin Ramsey of Tucson, Ariz.; three sisters, Hazel Tyler of El Paso, Hallie Buster of Los Angeles, Calif., Nell Straight of San Francisco, Calif.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitations were held May 3 with graveside services following at Memory Lane Cemetery. Reverend David Saucier of the First United Methodist Church officiated. Serving as pallbearers were J.R. RAMSEY: Full details have been provided of the death of Kenneth F.Ramsey, 60, a former Silver City resident who died Feb. 4 of a heart attack in Tucson, Ariz. He was the son of the late Fred (Uncle Fred) Ramsey. Born in Washington State, Ramsey grew up in Silver City. He attended Western New Mexico University, earning degrees in mechanical drawing and mathematics. His wife, Betty, said Ramsey considered himself "a Silver City cowboy." During World War II, Ramsey served in the Navy. When his tour of duty was over, he worked in several mines in southern Arizona and New Mexico. Ramsey moved to Tucson in the early 1950's, and joined the faculty at Vail Junior High School in 1956. In addition to his wife, Ramsey is survived by daughters Bonnie Scott of Newton Square, Pa., and Becky Ramsey of Rock Hill, S.C. The family asks that any donations be made to the Ken Ramsey Memorial Fund, care of Vail Junior High School, Tucson, Ariz.

RAMSEY: Lloyd Calvin Ramsey, 53, a resident of Hurley, entered life eternal Monday at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was born Aug. 4, 1938. Mr. Ramsey was a member of the Indian Hills Baptist Church and The American Sportsman. He was coordinator of the Neighborhood Watch in Hurley, an honorary member of the Peace Officers Association in Wisconsin and Texas, and president of the Hurley Tee-Ball organization. Mr. Ramsey retired from General Motors as a mechanic and service manager. Calling hours were from2-4 p.m. today at Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels. Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:30 at the Indian Hills Baptist Church with Dan Grindstaff, pastor of the Indian Hills Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Hurley Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Ramsey of Hurley; two sons, Charles Ramsey Sr. and Brian Ramsey, both of Hurley; and four daughters, Patricia Ferry and her husband, Roger, of San Antonio, Texas, Paula Johnrow and her husband, William, of San Antonio, Charlotte DeMar and her husband, Billy, of Wisconsin, and Peggy J. Ramsey of Hurley. He is also survived by three sisters, Betty Williams of Hurley, Brenda Oxford of Little Rock, Ark., and Carolyn Corn of Hurley; and 10 grandchildren. RAMSEY: Mabel Mae Ramsey, 84, a resident of Silver City, entered into rest Wednesday at Gila Regional Medical Center. She was born May 4, 1912, in Pinos Altos to Jesse James and Lilly Lee Cothrun Light. Calling hours will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday in Baca's Funeral Chapels. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Baca's Funeral Chapels with Pastor Dan Grindsiaff officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery. She is survived by a brother, Jack Light, and his wife, Naomi, of Winkleman, Ariz.; two sisters, Lilly Murphy and her husband, Bud, of Moyers, Okla., and Velma Harris and her husband, Dave, of Sun City, Ariz.. a daughter-in-law Hallie Ramsey of Dallas; two grandsons, Jack Ramsey and his wife Beth, of Chicago, and Roy Ramsey and his wife, Millie, of Dallas;; five great-grandchildren, Josh, Jason, Michelle, Wendy and Chris; two great-great-grandchildren, Gage and Christian; and two nieces, Laura Filkins and her husband, Larry, of Honey, and Lois Balke and her husband, Fred, of Santa Clara. RAMZEL: Claude Stewart Ramzel, 59, died Saturday near Silver City. He was born July 3, 1929, in San Angelo, Texas, and was a retired government employee. Mr. Ramzel was a resident of Socorro. Private family services will be held in Socorro at a later date. Survivors are his wife, Wanda, and two sons and one daughter, all of Socorro. RANCEWARE: Robert Ranceware, 70, World War I veteran, died last Saturday at Fort Bayard Veterans Hospital He was the brother of Mrs. Fannie Baylor of Silver City. Funeral services were held In El Paso, followed by burial in the Fort Bliss National Cemetery.

RANDLE: Mike G. Randle, 38, a resident of Las Cruces, entered eternal rest Friday evening at his home. He was born Aug. 16, 1952, in Deming and was a 1970 graduate of Deming High School. He had been a resident of Las Cruces for the past 11 years. He was a carpenter and a member of New Life Untied Pentecostal Church. Calling hours were from 1-5 this afternoon in Baca's Mission Funeral Chapel. An evening prayer service will be held this evening at 7 in the New Life United Pentecostal Church with Pastor J.D. Notgrass and Mark Dominguez, pastor of the Apostolic Church of Anthony, officiating. The funeral service will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2, also in the New Life United Pentecostal Church, with Pastor Notgrass and Pastor Mark Dominguez officiating. Committal services will follow. He will be laid to rest in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Survivors include his wife, Jesse Payan Randle; three sons, Derek, Ryan A., Jason L. Randle, all of Las Cruces; his father, John Randle of Deming; a sister, Karen Lambson of Silver City; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Dees, on Aug. 16, and a brother, John Andy Randle, on Dec. 19, 1979. Casket bearers will be Tony Aguirre, Jack Burrows, Tom Emmanuel, Gerald Milstead, Mark Gladen and Mitch Lambson. RANGEL: Santos E. Rangel, 65, resident of Bayard for the past 21 years, died Friday night at the Hillcrest General Hospital where he was a patient for a short time. Having completed 34 years of service as an employee of the American Smelting and Refining Co., Mr. Rangel was retired. Prior to his residence here he was an employee of a company in Mexico. Survivors are his widow, Clotilde: two daughters, Mrs. Ruth Cabreles of El Paso and Mrs. Mary Gonzales of Bayard; four sons, Manuel, Las Angeles, Raymond, Tucson, Jesus, Silver City, and Pedro, Deming; a Brother, Salome, Juarez, Mexico and one sister, Miss Cantua Rangel also of Juarez. There are 11 grandchildren. The body was shipped to Tucson for burial services conducted by the Riley Mortuary. Local arrangements were by Cox Mortuary.

RANGER: Arthur Ranger, Sr., 79, well known resident of Silver City, passed away at his home Monday night, of a heart attack. He had been under care of his doctor for some time. Mr. Ranger was born in England and had lived here for the past 10 years. Recently, Mr. and Mrs. Ranger celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at the home of their son, A. H. (Art) Ranger, member of the city council and manager of the Enco Humble Oil Company Service Station at Pope and 12th Sts. Funeral services are pending at the Curtis Mortuary.

RANGER: The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash of a helicopter at Bright Angel Creek, Grand Canyon, Ariz., which took the life of Arthur Henry Ranger, 47, of Silver City. Mr. Ranger was employed by Halverson-Lents Transcanyon General Contractors as a helicopter pilot. He started his flying career in 1961. The deceased was born March 28, 1922 in Detroit, Mich. He was married to the former Marvel Helen Woodward in 1944, while he was serving in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 52; the Silver City Elks Lodge No. 413 and the American Legion Post of Grand Canyon, Ariz. He also served on the Silver City Town Council for two years. Survivors other than Mr. Ranger's widow include three children, Mrs. Barbara Laramore of Miami, Fla., Naval Airman Apprentice Richard F. Ranger, stationed in Memphis, Tenn., and Merrie Virginia (Gigi) Ranger of Silver City; and his mother, Mrs. Ida B. Ranger of Silver City. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Curtis Mortuary.

RANKIN: Henry Rankin, Sr.. 89, pioneer rancher of the Southwest, died Tuesday night at the Veterans hospital at Fort Bayard. The father of Noel Calvin and Henry Rankin, Jr., prominent in ranching in Grant' county 'for many years, Mr. Rankin had a colorful career in the early days of the cattle industry. Born in Mississippi Oct. 8, 1886, he came to New Mexico in 1902and acquired a ranch near Elida, where he lived until 1916. He served as postmaster at Elida for nine years. Thirty-nine years ago he moved to Grant County and had resided here since that time. The last several years he lived with his son, Noel and fami1y on a ranch and farm north of Cliff. As a young man, Mr. Rankin served in the U. S. Cavalry from 1887- to 1889. Thereafter he was a rancher in Texas and recalled the stirring days of huge cattle drives over trails through Indian infested regions as far north as Montana. Following his marriage, he and Mrs. Rankin, who died in 1949, reared a family of nine children, all of whom surviving. They are four daughters, Mrs. G. F. Mikesell, Amarillo, Tex.; Mrs. A. A. Juersch, Los Angeles; Mrs. Pete Ussery, Seminole, Tex.; Mrs. Charles Blakey, Lordsburg; and five sons, Noel and Calvin of Cliff, Henry, Jr. of Silver City, Beuford and A. G. Rankin of Odessa Tex. Funeral services will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at Cox Mortuary chapel with interment in the family plot in Masonic cemetery.

RANKIN: Thomas P. Rankin, 82, father of Mrs. Glenn C. Baker, died Friday afternoon at his home in Lowell, N. C., following a brief illness. Mrs. Baker left El Paso by plane to go to North Carolina to be with her father, who was a pioneer resident of Lowell. Funeral services were held at Lowell with interment following.

RANKIN: Henry O. Rankin, 59, former Grant County rancher, died Saturday night enroute to a local clinic, after being released from hospitalization the same day. He had been under treatment following a recent coronary attack. For years before retirement he had been employed as a locomotive engineer in the Kennecott pit mine at Santa Rita and until recently has been parking meter officer of the Silver City Police Department. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Bonnie Rankin; four brothers, Noël, of Silver City; Calvin, of Yuma, Ariz; Buford and A. G., of Odessa, Tex; three sisters, Mrs. Ambrose Guerch of Van Nuys, Calif.; Mrs. O.J. Ussery of Seminole, Tex., and Mrs. Charlie Blakley of Lordsburg. Funeral services were held in Curtis Mortuary Chapel at 10 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. James Wayne of the First Methodist Church and the Rev. Joe Sherman of the Church of Christ, Silver City, officiating. Burial was in the Masonic Cemetery.

RANKIN: Minnie Rankin, 73, died Oct. 30 in an El Paso Hospital. Minnie and her husband, R. Calvin, lived in Las Cruces, but had spent many years in this community in and around Cliff. She was born April 11, 1907, in Pulaski, Mississippi. Mrs. Rankin was a member of the Balanier Church of Christ; her pastor, Jack Kirby, conducted service in the Wheeler Chapel Wednesday, Oct. 22. Burial was in Memory Lane. Pallbearers were Houling Means, George Jackson, Noah O'Mary, Richard Holliman, George Ewen, and Wesley Brown. Mrs. Rankin has one brother, Carl B. Wicker of El Paso, one sister, Nannie Lane of El Paso, and a niece Carol Jane McCauley of El Paso. Arrangements by Wheeler Funeral Home.

RANKIN: Noel Mathis Rankin, 92, a resident of Silver City, passed away Saturday at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was the president from 1966-68 of the New Mexico Cattle Growers Association and was a recipient of the New Mexico "Cattleman of the Year Award" in 1969. He was a member of the Masons Shriners, the First Baptist Church, Farm and Livestock Bureau, and the Grant County Farm Bureau, was president of the Cliff-Gila Fair Board for 12 years, and as a member of the state Soil Conservation Committee and the New Mexico Livestock Board. He was a veteran of World War I and served with the U.S. Navy on the USS Beaver. He received the New Mexico State University "Agriculturist of Distinction Award" in 1972 and the Grant County "Sterling Silver Citizen Award" in 1970. He had ranched in this area since moving here in 19l7. He established the NMSU Scholarship Fund for New Mexico agricultural students. He is survived by his wife, Elva Nelle Rankin of Silver City; by two stepdaughters, Pat Tuohy and her husband, Mike of Moses Lake, Wash., and Jane Ramsey and her husband, Mike of Abilene, Texas; and by two step grandsons, Mike Tuohy of California and Christopher Tuohy of Moses Lake. Surviving brothers and sisters include Genelle Gersch of Silver City, Dovie Ussery of Seminole, Texas, Calvin Rankin and his wife, Vesta of El Paso, Texas, Florena Blakey of Hobbs, and Beuford Rankin and his wife, Mildred of Kingsland, Texas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was held today from 3-6 p.m. in the Curtis-Bright chapel. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m., also in the Curtis-Bright chapel, with the Rev. Jesse Liles officiating at the service. Interment will follow at the Masonic Cemetery with Tyrone Masons Lodge No. 52 conducting the service. Serving as pallbearers will be Bob Clout, Jupe Means, Fred McCauley, Noah O'Mary, Bob Abercrombie, Ernie Brown, George Jackson and Bill McCauley. Honorary pallbearers will be John Bingaman, Clyde Venable, Maurice Conner, Vern Crosley, Frank Parrish and John Reynolds. RANSTEAD: Mrs. Lenore Ranstead, 79, well known former area resident and member of the pioneer Thwaits family, died Friday at Lubbock Tex., following an illness of extended duration. For many years, Mrs. Ranstead and her husband, G. W. Dick Ranstead, who survives her, resided in Hurley, where Mr. Ranstead owned and operated the Hurley Garage. They moved to Silver, City in 1945 following Mr. Ranstead's retirement, and resided here until about four years ago when Mrs. Ranstead, becoming ill, went to Lubbock, Tex., to be with her daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Tusha, and her husband. Mrs. Ranstead was a diligent worker In the Community Church in Hurley and devoted much of her time to work in the First Methodist Church after coming to Silver City. She was a past president of the Women's Society of Christian Service; a leader of the Asbury Circle; and for a number of years was in charge of the junior department of the Sunday school of the Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Silver City Woman's Club. Other Immediate survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Lucy Seitzler and Mrs. Kathryn Moses of Silver City, and Mrs. Fanny Poindexter of, Lordsburg. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of the Rix Funeral Home in Lubbock, with the Rev. Lloyd Hamilton of the Methodist Church officiating. Burial was made in a Lubbock cemetery.

RANYAN: Armin S. Ranyan (Rabanian), 85, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, July 2, peacefu1ly in his sleep. He is survived by his wife, Martha Ranyan; children, Robert E.Ranyan, and Roberta L. (Dee Dee) Ranyan and her husband James W. Dowe III, all of Albuquerque, and John Michael Ranyan and wife, Diane of Grand Junction, Colo.; and three grandchildren. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 1937,with a degree in journalism. He worked at radio station WLIP in Kenosha, Wis., from 1948-57, and at Kennecott Copper Corp., Chino Mine Division, in Hurley from l958-74. After his retirement, in 1974, he worked as a sports journalist in Grand Junction. Mr. Ranyan immigrated to the United State at the age of 10, speaking very little. English. However, his English became proficient that he taught English elocution lessons, as well as using his eloquent baritone radio voice for WLIP. He and his wife celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1995. At is request, he was cremated and his ashes scattered at the scattering rose garden of Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque.

RANYAN: Martha Mary Ranyan, born Oct. 7, 1924, in Racine, Wis., died Tuesday, Jan. 5, in Albuquerque. She is survived by her children, Roberta L. Ranyan and husband, James W. Dowe III, of Albuquerque, and John M. Ranyan and wife, Diane, of Grand Junction, Colo.; and three grandchildren, Catherine E. Dowe, James W. Dowe IV and Stephanie N. Ranyan. She was preceded in death July 2, 1998, by her husband of 52 years, Armin S. Ranyan. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private scattering at the Scattering Garden of Sunset Memorial took place Jan. 12. Mrs. Ranyan worked at J.I. Case Co. in Racine. She also worked as a civilian at the Great Lakes Naval Base in Illinois and later for the Veterans Hospital in Fort Bayard. She was executive chef and part owner of the Sayat Nova Restaurant in Aspen.

RAPIER: William Riley Rapier, resident of Alamogordo, passed away in a nursing home at Deming Feb. 17. He was born March 2, 1882, at Dentonville County, Ark. A resident of New Mexico since 1901, Mr. Rapier was a retired foreman of Kennecott Copper Corp., operating in Grant County and was a member of the Baptist Church. He, was well known in mining circles. The body was taken to Alamogordo by the Mahoney Funeral home where funeral services were held at the Mullins Mortuary and burial took place. Mr. Rapier is survived by his widow, Mrs. Susie Rapier;, six daughters, Mrs. Glen Hudman, Mrs. Arnold Collins, Miss Willie.

RAPER: Lazon Raper, 51, died Monday, July 22 in Douglas, AZ. He was born July 8, 1923 in Thatcher, AZ. He served in World War II and was a member of the VFW. Survivors include the widow of the deceased, Verna Koontz, two sons, Russell and Tracy of Douglas; two stepdaughters, Carolyn Carragher and Sherry Johnson of Douglas; his mother Mrs. Nell Rapier of Safford, AZ; two brothers Delbert of Safford and Harold of Taylor; one sister, Blanche Stover of Tucson, AZ. Funeral services were held in the LDS Church in Douglas with interment following in Calvary Memorial Park. Services were conducted by Larry Rapier and Pallbearers were Joe Davis, Fineley Richards, John Ames, Jack, Danny and Larry Rapier. Mr. and Mrs. H.A. Larman of Hurley attended the funeral for their son-in-law.

RAPP: Mrs. Alice Clara Hamilton Rapp, 78, died this week in Hillcrest, -General hospital. She was a native of Brookfield, Ky., and came to New Mexico in 1891, settling first at Santa Rita. Funeral services were held Wednesday in Cox mortuary chapel with the Rev. Wayne Douglas officiating. Burial was in the city cemetery.

RASBERRY: Funeral services were held on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Curtis Mortuary Chapel for Coy' B. Rasberry who suffered a fatal heart attack at his residence in Hurley. The Rev. G. D. Brent of the First Baptist Church of Silver City officiated. Mr. Rasberry was a native of Eskota, Tex., and had lived in Hurley for the past 30 years. He was a pipe fitter for Kennecott Copper Corporation at the time of his death. Survivors include his wife, Edna, of Hurley, two daughters, Mrs.. Patsy Mims of Hurley and. Mrs. Shirley. Romero of Lordsburg; three grandchildren three sisters, Mrs. G. G. Halo of Abilene, Tex., Mrs. Marcellus Rix of Wilcox, Ariz, and Mrs. Stella Wimsatt of Aztec: two brothers, Carl of Deming and Cecil of Casper, Wyo. Interment followed, with IOOF graveside services.

RASCON: Rosary recitation for Alfred C Rascon, 47, will be held at 6pm tonight and Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10am Saturday. Both services will be held at Holy Family Catholic church in Hanover with the Rev Thomas Perez officiating. Internment will follow in the Fierro cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jesus R Murillo, Tony Andazola, Henry Borunda, Larry Gonzales, Frank Salas and Rudy Rascon. Arrangements are by Wheeler.

RASCON: Gabino R. Rascon, 52, pioneer of the Mimbres where he was born, died last Thursday. Rosary services were held Friday at the family home, followed by burial Saturday afternoon in the family plot, under direction of the Cox Mortuary. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Rascon; a son, Wilfredo and two daughters, Mrs. Elvira R. Sierra, Silver City and Rachel Rascon, Mimbres. Also six grand children; three brothers Manuel of Turnerville; Cipriano and Daniel of Los Angeles and two sisters Mrs. Turvisa Cordova, Los Angeles and Mrs. Alvina Carbajal, Mimbres.

RASCON: Manuel Castillo Rascon Jr., 53, died Jan. 18 at the Veterans Hospital in Long Beach, Cal. He was a veteran and life member of the DAV. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; five daughters, Lupe, Mary, Joanne, and Lucille all of Turnerville, and Sally Baca and one grandson, Richard Jr., of Bayard; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Rascon, Sr., of Bayard; three brothers, Alfredo Rascon of Turnerville, Joe Rascon of Silver City, Sammy Rascon of San Manuel, Ariz.; and six sisters, Carolina Dominguez of Central, Ramona Ortiz and Sofia Arciero both of Bayard, Lorenzo Miranda of Albuquerque, Delia Garcia of Bell Gardens, Cal. and Elisa Cordova of Simi Valley, Cal. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m., Wednesday night at the Wheeler Chapel and mass was at 10 Thursday morning at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Bayard with Father Macaya officiating at both services. Burial followed at the Fort Bayard National Cemetery. Pallbearers were Frank Dominguez, Jr., Albert Castillo, Alfred Rascon, Jr., Ernest Udero, David Marquez and Ruben Cordova. RASCON: Manuel R. Rascon, 88, died April 23, in Silver City. Mr. Rascon was born in Mimbres and was a lifelong resident of Grant County and a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Matilde Rascon of Bayard; six daughters. Services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Mass of the Resurrection being celebrated at 9 a.m. on Monday with Father Esteban Lopez officiating both services. Interment followed at the Grijalva Private Cemetery in Mimbres. Serving as pallbearers were Alfred Rascon Jr., Frankie Dominguez Jr., Rudy Rascon, Ruben Cordova, Eloy Garcia, Eloy Ortiz. RASCON: Maria Orosco Rascon, 58, died Sunday in El Paso. She was born in Santa Rita on April 18, 1924, and had been a lifelong resident of Grant County. Mrs. Rascon is survived by her husband Wilfredo Rascon; four daughters, Yolanda Malloy, Maria Elena Martinez, both of San Lorenzo, Patsy Moreno of Deming, and Lucia Rascon of San Lorenzo; one son, Wilfredo Rascon, Jr. of San Lorenzo; three sisters, Josie Schroeder and Juanita Jaime both of Deming and Jimmy Orosco of San Lorenzo; and five grandchildren. Father Esteban Lopez officiated at the rosary, which was held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, with the Mass of the Resurrection held at 10 a.m. on Thursday. Both services were at the San Lorenzo Catholic Church. Interment followed at the San Lorenzo Cemetery. RASCON: Mariana T. Rascon, 86, died Sunday evening in Silver City. Mrs. Rascon was born in Mexico, but was a longtime resident of Grant County. She was a communicant of the Catholic Church and was a member of the Silver City Senior Citizens. Mrs. Rascon is survived by one daughter, Elvira R. Sierra of Silver City, one son Wilfredo Rascon of Deming, one sister, Petra Jaime of Chihuahua, NM, 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gavino Rascon in 1957, and a daughter, Rachael Montoya on April 3, 1983. Rosary recitation will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Wheeler Funeral Home Chapel with Father Tomas Perez recitating, and Mass of the resurrection will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the San Lorenzo Catholic Church with Father Alberto Abaigar officiating. Interment will follow at the Grijalva Private Cemetery in Mimbres. Serving as pallbearers will be Kenneth Montoya, Alex Montoya Jr., Tony Montoya, Ray Sierra, Ernest Sierra, and Wilfredo Rascon Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Castillo and Mariano Grijalva. RASCON: Matilde Castillo Rascon, 86, died Monday in Fort Bayard Medical Center. She was born Aug. 6, 1902, in Mimbres; was a lifelong resident of this area; was a member of the Catholic Church and was a homemaker. Calling hours will be today from 4-9 p.m. in Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapel where rosary services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday morning at 9 in Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Bayard. Interment will follow in the Grijalva Cemetery in Mimbres. The Rev. Ricardo Hinojal will officiate at all services. Survivors are two sons, Joe Rascon of Silver City and Samuel Rascon on Arizona; seven daughters, Carolina Dominguez of Central, Sofia Arciero of Bayard, Ramona Ortiz, Eliza Cordova and Delia Garcia, all of California, Lorie Michaelback of Albuquerque and Patricia Maynes of Bayard; two brothers, Louis Castillo of Albuquerque and Faustino Castillo of Arizona; five sisters, Geneveva Madrid and Luz Gonzales of Bayard, Juaquina Martinez and Ofelia Carrasco of Central, and Ramona Rena of Fort Bayard; 43 grandchildren 67 great-grandchildren; and 25 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel, a daughter, Selsa Padilla, and two sons, Alfredo and Manuel Rascon Jr. Casket bearers will be Michael Rascon, David Michaelback, Charlie Ortiz, Alfredo Rascon Jr., Michael and Frankie Dominguez. RASCON: Wendy Jean Smith Rascon, 24, passed away Sunday as the result of an automobile accident. She is survived by her parents, Rick and Patty Smith of Silver City, and Melinda and George Austin of Santa Fe. She is also survived by three brothers, Breck Smith of Santa Fe, and Derek Kuester and Doug Kuester, both of Silver City. Surviving grandparents are Bill and Beth Aycock of Rio Rico, Ariz. Ms. Rascon was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Murphy, and her paternal grandfather, Sam Smith. She was born Nov. 20, 1965, in Durango, Colo. She spent most of her life in Silver City, and attended North Silver Elementary, Stout Intermediate, La Plata and Silver High. She also attended Western New Mexico University. At the time of her death, she was employed by Rentco Corp. Funeral services will be held at the Curtis-Bright Funeral Home chapel on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David Goble officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Lane Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dee Charles, Bill Marek, John Maxwell, "Moose" White, John Werner and Jim Clanton. RASMUSON: Floyd Rasmuson, 83, of Silver City, a retired businessman, passed away at his home Friday evening. He was born March 9, 1913, in Marseilles, Ill., of Rasmus Rasmuson and Helen Blakke both from Norway. He had a younger brother, Raymond. His father farmed in Iowa and Minnesota. He graduated from high school in Ottosen, Iowa. He worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps and attended Parks Air College in St. Louis. He built planes for Consolidated Intl. Seattle and San Diego. After the war, he worked in Bishop, Calif., and Rifle, Colo. While at Rifle, he met and married Mary Helen Soule, and came to Silver City, where he ran Rasmuson Chevron Service for 28 1/2 years. He was a 35 plus member of the Kiwanis Club of Silver City, where he was a mainstay of many civic projects to the end. He was president and secretary-treasurer in Silver City, and lieutenant governor of the Southwest District Kiwanis. He had also belonged to the Grant County Archaeology Society and the Grant County Rolling Stones. He is survived by a son, Charles Floyd Rasmuson; a stepdaughter, Mary Margaret Soulé; a grandson, Charles Floyd Rasmuson Jr.; a granddaughter, Angela Dawn Rasmuson; a nephew, Robert Eugene Rasmuson, and his son, Jacob; a niece, Susan Rae Crance, and her children, Richard and Karl Lee; and many cousins. Viewing will be this evening from 3-7 at the Curtis-Bright Funeral Home chapel. Services will begin at 10 am. Thursday at the Curtis-Bright Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow at Memory Lane Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Beem, John Fellingham, Joe Hodges, Don King, Henry Ochoa and Joe Smith. RASMUSSON: Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Rasmusson and their children Mary and Charles, have returned home after attending the funeral services held at bishop Ca for Rasmusson's brother Major Raymond J Rasmusson 59 who lost his life as a result of injuries suffered in a plane crash on June 13. Also killed in the crash was the pilot Lt. Scott W Ewing. The two were in a search aircraft from the Bishop Civil Air Patrol unit, on a routine search mission in the North, Lake area for a missing hiker, when the accident occurred.

RATHBURN: Charles Henry Rathburn, 88, retired pioneer rancher, died Monday at his home on the Pinos Altos Highway. He had lived in Grant County 60 years. He is survived by three nieces, Mrs. Lilly Light, Mrs. Eva Watkins, Silver City and Mrs. Willy Ward, Bayard. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Cox Mortuary chapel, the Rev. Clarence Crow, pastor of the Baptist Church conducting the rites. Burial will take place in the Pinos Altos cemetery.

RATLIFF: Emmitt "Jinks" Ratliff, a former Lordsburg resident, entered life eternal Saturday at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was born Dec. 9, 1905, in Portal Dodge for several years, and was employed as a cowboy in New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada before his retirement. Calling hours will be Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels. Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 at Fort Bayard National Cemetery with David Hardt conducting. Veteran’s honors will be accorded by the New Mexico Army National Guard. Survivors include two sister, Cloma Lachet of Silver City and Winnie Voyles of Safford, Ariz.; and four grandchildren, Ronnie Merrill of Bullhead City, Ariz.; and Jerry Merrill, Shelley Lockerby and Deborah Tonko, all of Tempe, Ariz. RAY: Cain Edward Ray of Weatherford, Texas, died Wednesday, May 12, in a tragic accident. Cain was born in Bedford, Texas, on June'27, 1994. He attended the Little School House in Weatherford. Cain loved church, baseball, fishing, riding horses, climbing trees, and playing soccer. He especially loved his dogs, Maxie, Lucy, Speedbump and Wishbone. Survivors include his parents, John E. Ray and Christine Sisemore Ray of Weatherford; his sisters, Katelyn, 7 years, and Miss Lil, 7 months; his maternal grandparent, Sandra Hedges Stiltner, and his paternal grandparent, Willie Mae Ray; aunts, Charlotte Ray and Casey Sisemore Burden; cousins, Lucas Burden and Dillon Ray; an uncle, Art Ray; his great-grandparents, Bernard and Catherine Hedges of Silver City; a great-great-uncle, R.J. Hedges; a great-uncle, Randy Hedges of Aurora, Colo.; and an uncle, Christopher Sisemore of Tucson, Ariz. Christopher Sisemore and Charlotte Ray were godparents. Cain was buried in the Central Cemetery in Weatherford on May 15 with the Rev. Tom Jones officiating.

RAY: Frannie W. Ray, 49, Bayard, died Friday in Hillcrest General Hospital. He was a graduate of Western University and active in athletics. He served in World War II as a Naval ensign in the Pacific. During his teaching career he was principal of the Santa Rita public school coached basketball and was a leader in the Boy Scouts. Survivors are his widow, Janet Mayo Ray, daughter, Mrs. William Russell of Sacramento, and a son, Jeffrey Ray, and his mother. Funeral services were held at the Curtis Mortuary chapel with the Rev. Walker C. Dick Of Arenas Valley Community Church, conducting the rites, Burial was in Memory Lane cemetery.

RAY: Mrs. Alice J. Ray passed away January 9, 1977 at Springer, N.M. Mrs. Ray was born November 10, 1888 in Meeker, Colorado. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Tirey. Mrs. Ray came to the Silver City area in June 1899. She attended school in Central, later she attended New Mexico Normal school, now New Mexico Western College. After obtaining her teaching certificate, she taught at Hadley, an old mining camp, and later she taught at Whitewater, N.M. and at Gregg School of Business in Phoenix. She was married to Walter Garland Hodges September 1910. Of this union three daughters were born, Violet, Iris and Fern. She was later married to Willis Ray, who passed away in 1964. In 1931 the family, moved to Cripple Creek, Colorado, and remained there until 1942 when she and the family returned to Fierro, N.M. On her return to Fierro in 1942, Mrs. Ray made her love of painting of landscapes in oil into a way of life. She had always been active and enthusiastic painter in oils and continued to paint up until September 1976 when she became ill. Mrs. Ray was recognized as an outstanding artist throughout the Southwest and was the recipient of several awards in recognition of her talents and donation to the world of art. She will be missed. She was active in Art groups in the area of the southwestern part of New Mexico for many years. In her later years she taught an Art class at the community College at New Mexico Eastern State College. She is survived by three daughters, Violet H. Tucker of Silver City, Iris Carter of Cimarron, N.M., and Fern Vetter of Cripple Creek, Colorado, 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived a sister Evangeline Wellborn, Silver City, and a brother Roy W. Tirey also of Silver City. Funeral services are to be held today, January 13 at 2:30 p.m. at the Curtis-Bright funeral Chapel with Rev. Alfred Pace officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Lane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who prefer may donate to their favorite charities in Alice Ray's name.

RAY: Mrs. Eugenia Ray, 66 ,who was born in Grant County, passed away last Friday at Hillcrest General Hospital. For many years she owned and operated a Spanish food parlor at her home on South Cooper St. and had a wide acquaintance in the community. Surviving members of her family are one son, Joe Ray and eight daughters, Mrs. Isabel Mitchell, Mrs. Mary Gilbert, Mrs. Ethel Jones, all of Silver City; Mrs. Mariana Munoz, Laredo, Tex,; Mrs. Helen Mota, Los Angeles; Mrs. Lola Quitmeyer, San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Ruth Ybarra, Tucson and Mrs. Cruz Ferranti, Santa Monica, Calif.; two brothers, Frank Mendoza and Ynez Ybarra, and a sister, Mrs. Marie Ybarra, Silver City; 25 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. Rosary services were held at the Curtis Mortuary chapel Sunday evening with funeral mass at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church Monday at 9 a.m. Burial took place in the Pinos Altos cemetery.

RAY: Willis H Ray, 86, a retired mine foreman of the U. S. Smelting, Mining and Refining Company at Vanadium and Grant County resident for 35 years, died Saturday at his home in 'Silver City. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Curtis Mortuary chapel Burial was In Memory Lane cemetery. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Alice Ray; three daughters, Mrs. E. Marshall, Grants; Mrs. Carl Carter, Cimarron and Mrs. Joe Vetter, Cripple Creek, Colo.; four grandchildren, one great grandchild and a brother, Palmer Ray, Hawthorne, Calif.

RAY: Ray: Grace Brock Ray, member of probably the oldest pioneer family in southwestern New Mexico, passed away May 22 at her home in Lordsburg. Grace was born Jan. 21, 1911 to Julius Caesar Brock and Anna Schmelzel Brock. Her father had come to the Burro Mountains in 1876 and established his ranch on Thompson Canyon a few years later. Born on this ranch were three daughters Marie, Helen and Grace and a son Glen Brock who died in childhood. With no boys in the family the girls had to be the ranch hands and many old-timers remember how well Grace handled stock, and how well she could ride and rope. She was not just a country girl however, having completed three years of college. On April 25, 1935, Grace married Charles Ray and they started a ranch just a few miles from her old home. Together they made their ranch self-sufficient with some farming, a garden and many lovely fruit trees as well as their cattle. Grace Ray lived by the pioneer code of honesty, loyalty to friends, integrity and hospitality. Many remember her generosity with the fruit produced on her beloved ranch. Her many friends also admired very much her courage and hopefulness during the last several years. Grace is survived by her husband Charles; one daughter Kathleen Marley; one sister Marie McCauley; five grandchildren, Melinda Jackson, Laura Marley, Louanna Marley, Charles Marley and Sandra Marley; one great grandchild, Christi Jackson. Funeral services were held May 26 at 2 p.m. at Heather Funeral Home in Lordsburg with Fred Ewing of the Church of Christ officiating. Burial was at Mountain View Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Art Bryan, Rex Kipp, William Kipp, Glenn Dorsett, Bill Johnson, and Charles Marley. RAY: Funeral services were held in San Diego, CA., for Jack Ray, a former Silver City resident, who died in San Diego, October 22. Mr. Ray was born July 28, 1914, in Alvord TX. During his residence in Silver City, the deceased served as a master of Silver City Lodge No. 8, AF&AM. He left Silver City in 1945 to move to San Diego.

RAY: Titus B. Ray, 82, a retired personnel consultant for Chino Mines, entered into rest Wednesday at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was born Oct. 9, 1911, in Livingston, Ala., to the late Thomas Bailey and Minnie (Miller) Ray. Mr. Ray was a resident of the Burro Mountain Homestead, but spent many winters at Elephant Butte. He was a member of the Camper Ranch Club of America and Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Sierra Lodge No. 6. Mr. Ray was of the Methodist faith. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Marjorie A. Ray of the home; a daughter, Patricia Ann Johnson of Arenas Valley; a sister, Edna Davis of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Cremation and arrangements have been entrusted to Baca's Funeral Chapels and Baca's Mimbres Crematory.
Neil Patrick Rayburn, seven weeks old son of Mr. and Mrs. Perry V. Rayburn, of' Vanadium, passed away Saturday. Surviving are the parents two brothers, Anthony and Steven; two sisters, Norene and Theresa, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Lee, Pinos Altos, and Mrs. Edna Rayburn, Grants Pass, Oregon. RAYMER: Curtis R. Raymer, 86, a Deming resident, passed away Friday at Mimbres Memorial Nursing Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 3-6 in the afternoon at Baca's Funeral Chapels in Deming. Grave-side services will be held Wednesday at 10 in the morning at Mountain View Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Woods, pastor of the First Church of God in Hatch, officiating. Masonic services will be conducted by Deming Lodge No. 12 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons. Mr. Raymer was born Nov. 12, 1910, in Bee Branch, Ark. To Neely and Nina Holland Raymer. As a Young man, he was a semiprofessional baseball player in Arkansas. He married Opal Wilson on Dec. 21, 1928, and they moved to New Mexico in 1937. He was a machinist and shovel operator for Kennecott Copper Corp., from which he retired. Mr. Raymer loved gardening, golf, hunting and fishing. He was a life member of A.J. Wheeler Lodge No. 367 A.F.&A.M. in Morgonton, Ark., and was a member of the First Church of God. His family includes his wife of 68 years, Opal Raymer of the home; three daughters, Bobbi Hendershot and her husband, Stan, of Tucson, Ariz., Nina Fahrlender and her husband, Jack, of Pine Top, Ariz., and Peggy Center and. her husband, Jay, of Fort Pierce, Fla.; two brothers; four sisters; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers will be Stan Hendershot, Jack Fahrlender, Jay Center, Jim Convery, Don Martin and Jeff Narramore. RAYMOND: Charles "Bud" Raymond, 69, a resident of Truth or Consequences, died Monday. He is survived by his daughters, Sherry Miller and husband, John, of Silver City, and Charlean Raymond of Albuquerque; his grandchildren, Casandra Miller, Jeffrey Miller and Justin Miller, all of Silver City; his nieces and nephews, Raymond Hensley, Robert Hensley, Debbie McNeill, Tamrah Brown, Ron Hensley and David Raymond; a brother-in-law, George Hensley; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Raymond. Mr. Raymond was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Air Force. Graveside services were held Monday at Mountain Valley Cemetery in Barton, N.M. RAYNOLDS: Aug. 8; Jack M. Raynolds, a former president of the First Nationa1 Bank of Albuquerque, and member of a pioneer southwestern family, died suddenly at his home here Tuesday. He was a son of the late Joshua Raynolds, financier, who owned banks at E1 Paso, Albuquerque, and Las Vegas.

REA: Ralph F. Rea Jr., 70, of Aztec died Thursday in Farmington. He was horn Oct. 14, 1926, in Durango, Colo., the son of Ralph and Marjorie (Rex) Rea. Mr. Rea was a Baptist and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. The funeral service will he held Saturday morning at 10 at Hood Mortuary in Bayfield, Cob. Survivors include his son, Butch Rea of Silver City.

READEL: Dr. Carl J. Readel, root specialist, who maintained an office in Silver City for some years, until failing health forced his retirement, died Monday in the Fort Bayard Veterans Hospital, where he had been a patient the past several months. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ethel Readel: two sons, Dale Readel, Deming, and Tony Readel, Carlsbad, and a sister, Phyllis Readel, St. Louis, Mo. Funeral services were set for 10 a.m. today at the Cox Mortuary Chapel conducted by the Rev. Thomas Ogilve, Presbyterian minister, assisted by the Rev. Thomas F. Darley. Interment was in Fort Bayard cemetery, with military honors at the graveside.

REAMS: Postmaster David Reams was called to Morristown, Tenn. the past weekend to attend the funeral of his father W D Reams a retired postal official who died in Florida.

Robert Reay,75, of Silver City, died Friday, Oct. 21, 1983 in Hillcrest Hospital after a short illness He was born May 15, 1908 in New Mexico, the son of Stephen and Martha Brown Reay, and lived in Silver City for several years. Reay was employed as a foreman mechanic with Spring Factory for 40 years, retiring in 1969. He is survived by his wile. Viola Keys Reay, of Silver City and one sister, Clara Hollister, of Norwalk, Calif. Services were conducted Tuesday, Oct. 25 in the Hillside Chapel of the Rose Hills, Whittier, Calif. Local arrangements by the Curtis-Bright Funeral Home.

REBHOLZ: Rosary services for Eugene R. Rebholz were recited in the Curtis Mortuary Chapel Tuesday at 8 p.m. and Mass was said in Our Lady of Fatima Church in Bayard on Wednesday at 9 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Adrian St. Charles officiating. Interment followed in the Fort Bayard Soldiers cemetery with military services by the VFW Post of Bayard. Mr. Rebholz had resided in Hurley for the past six months and was a U S Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Mary of Hurley; two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Pershing of Silver City and Mrs. Mary Lou Spurlin of Deming. 17 grandchildren also survive.

REDDING: Fredrick J. Redding, 78, passed away at Hillcrest Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Redding was a native of Farley, Iowa and had lived in Silver City for the past five months. He was a retired dairy bacteriologist for the Twin City Milk Producers Association and was a veteran of WWI. Survivors include his daughter, Mrs. Marilee Avery of Tyrone, four grandchildren and one brother, Frank Redding of Debuke, Iowa. Graveside services and interment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in St. Paul, Minn. Curtis-Bright Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

REDFIELD: Barney H. Redfield, 88, a resident of Douglas, Ariz., died Friday in Douglas. He was a retired automobile dealer. He was a member of Elks Lodge 955 in Douglas. Mr. Redfield is survived by his wife, Leola Redfield of Douglas; a daughter, Stella Irvin of Silver City; a sister, Madonna Redfield of Tucson, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Cheryl Buresh of Houston, Will Thompson of Cliff, Valree Archuleta of San Lorenzo, Lee Ann Norris of Norwood, Colo., and Barney Thompson of Silver City. REDMAN: Patricia Grace (Fitts) Redman died Wednesday in Tucson, Ariz., after a long struggle with recurrent breast cancer. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Chet Redman, and her infant daughter. She is survived by her close friend and companion, Howard Gorball; sons, Cary and Vince Redman; daughter-in-law, Gloria Hurtado Redman; and grandchildren, Ashley and Alyssa Redman She is also survived by her sisters, Susan Lawrence and Linda Mason; brothers, Jack Fitts, and Jerry and Danny Buchanan; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Redman was born Feb. 20, 1933, in Emporia, Kan., and lived most of her adult life in the Southwest. She was employed by the U.S. Forest Service for more than 33 years, retiring in 1993. A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 9, at noon at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Douglas, Ariz. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Carondelet Hospice Services, Tucson, AZ, where a memorial has been established in her name.

REDMOND: Roy Redmond, 69, passed away Saturday, October 1 at Hillcrest Hospital. Mr. Redmond was a native of Niagara Falls, N.Y., and had resided in Silver City for the past four years. He was a retired employee of the Central Foundry Division of General Motors, Defiance, Ohio, after 25 years of service. Mr. Redmond is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nora Redmond of Silver City, a sister, Mrs. Leona Russell of Niagara Falls N.Y. and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas L. Redmond in 1973. Memorial services were held Tuesday, October 4 in the Curtis-Bright Funeral Chapel with Mr. Clifton Gumm officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart Fund.

REDMAN: C.A. "Chet" Redman, 56, of Douglas, Ariz., a former Silver City resident, passed away Sunday, Aug. 19. He was manager of the Midcap, now King Bearing Store, in Bayard for several years. He was the owner and operator of Automotive and Industrial Supply in Douglas at the time of his death. His wife, Pat, is an employee of the Forest Service. He served the Silver City Elks Lodge as exalted ruler from 1971-72. He is survived by his wife, Pat, of the home; a son, Cary, his wife, Gloria, and their children, Ashley and Alyssa, all of Tucson, Ariz.; a son, Vincent, of the home; and a sister, Juanita McCaleb of Jacksonville, Fla. Services will be conducted Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 10 a.m. at the Curtis-Page Mortuary in Douglas. Services will be conducted by officers of the Douglas Elks Lodge, with Silver City Elks assisting. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Elks Lodge National Foundation Scholarship Fund may be made to the Silver City Elks Lodge.

REDMOND: Nora G. Redmond, 80, passed away March 6 in the Fort Bayard Medical Center. She had been in failing health the past four years. She was born in Buffalo, N.Y. on March 20, 1907, the daughter of George and Clara (Guck) Gardner. In 1926 she married Roy David "Dutch" Redmond. She was a former employee of General Motors Corp. Harrison Radiator Division, in Lockport, N.Y. In 1947 the Redmond’s moved to the Defiance, Ohio, area. While there, Mrs. Redmond was a member of the Paulding County Ohio Fair Board for many years and taught classes in leather tooling and quilting. In 1973 the Redmond’s moved to Silver City where she was a member of the Silver City Weaver's Guild and the Grant County Art Guild and again taught craft classes. Mrs. Redmond is survived by her sister, Martha Terry of Largo, Fla.; a brother, Edward Gardner of Tice, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Laura Sue Redmond of Defiance, and Patrick Thomas and Brenda Redmond, both of Valrico, Fla.; and one step-grandson, William Puehn of Toledo, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy, in 1977; her son, Thomas LeRoy; her grandson, Daniel Roy, and by a granddaughter, Jennifer Redmond. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12 at the Curtis-Bright Funeral Home chapel with Clifton Gumm, minister of the Church of Christ, officiating. REDWINE: Bernard Redwine, 49, former resident of Silver City, died Sunday in Douglas, Arizona, where he had resided since 1951. He was a brother of L. M, Redwine of Silver City. Other survivors are his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Redwine; a daughter, Corky and his mother, Mrs. Mattie Redwine, and another brother, Aubrey Redwine of Douglas. REDWINE: Glenn E. Redwine, 44, former resident of Silver City and a construction worker, died the past week in Douglas, Ariz., where he had lived in recent years. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mozelle Redwine, two sons, a daughter, his mother, Mrs. Mattie Redwine, and three brothers, one of whom is Merle Red-wine, Silver City.

REDWINE: Leslie Myrl Redwine, 83, a resident of Silver City since 1936, entered into rest Monday afternoon at Hacienda de Salud Nursing Home. He was born May 10, 1911, in Kiowa County, Okla., and was a retired construction worker. Mr. Redwine was an employee of Tatsch Construction Co. for 38 years. He was a life member of the Elks Club and a member of the Carpenter's Union. He was inducted into the New Mexico Old-Time Fiddler's Hall of Fame. Memorial services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 at Baca's Funeral Chapels with the Rev. Robert Ihlefeld officiating. Cremation has taken place at Baca's Mimbres Crematorium. Survivors include his wife, Leta Redwine of Silver City; a son, Donals R. Redwine, and his wife, Beverly, of Silver City; three grandchildren, Michael Redwine and his wife, Dee, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kenneth Redwine and his wife, D'Auna, of Albuquerque, and Rebecca Redwine of Haines, Alaska; and two great-grandchildren, Neil and Jason Redwine of Silver City. Redwine and his wife, Dee of Colorado Springs, Colo., Kenneth Redwine and his wife, D'Auna of Albuquerque and Rebecca Jo Redwine of Haines, Alaska; two great-grandchildren, Neil Redwine and his wife, Carolyn of Silver City and Jason Redwine, also of Silver City; a great-great-grandson, Michael Devon Redwine of Silver City; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Myrl Redwine on Oct. 4, 1994. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd with the Rev. REECE: Melvin O. Reece, 88, entered life eternal Saturday at his residence in Bayard. He was born in Stanberry, Mo., on Nov. 1,1904, to Cline and Ola Ann Cogdill Reece. Mr. Reece retired from Chino Mines as a brakeman. He was a Protestant by faith and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. Calling hours will be today from 3-6 p.m. at Baca's Funeral Chapels. A graveside service will be conducted at Memory Lane Cemetery on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Ken Palmer presiding. Survivors include three sons, Richard Reece of Bayard, Danny Reece of Portal, Ariz., and Jerry Reece of Glendale, Ariz.; two daughters, Shirley Rogers and Barbara Dye, both of Bayard; a brother, Giles Reece of Gordon, Nev.; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
