Claud Byrum, 81, a pioneer resident of Silver City and retired feed and grain dealer, died May 25 at Hillcrest General Hospital. Survivors are a sister Mrs. H. L. Kelly and a niece, Miss Georgia Kelly of Silver City; two other nieces, Mrs. Roy S. West, San Francisco and Mrs. John H. Huff, Alexandria, Va., and a grand-niece, Mrs. Marshall Ross of Peoria, Arizona. Funeral services were to held Monday at 10 am at the Curtis Mortuary chapel, the Rev. Kenneth Ford, pastor of the First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery, with graveside committal ritualistic rites by the Silver City Lodge of Masons.

Caballero: Lucinda Perrault Caballero, 83, a longtime Deming resident, died Thursday at Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City. Visitation will be held Sunday from 3 until 9 p.m. at Baca's Funeral Chapels in Deming and the prayer vigil will be held there that evening at 7. The funeral liturgy will begin at 10 Monday morning at St. Ann's Catholic Church with the Augustinian Recollects officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. She was born April 26, 1909, in San Juan and was a homemaker. Mrs. Caballero was a lifelong area resident, and a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and League of the Sacred Heart. She is survived by her husband, Arthur, of the home; a son, Arthur M. Caballero Jr., of Deming; six daughters, Nancy Chaires and Manuelita Maynes, both of Deming, Bertha Quarrell of Tucson, Ariz., Marcella Rutz of Bloomington, Calif., Rita Lambert of Austin, Texas, and Loretta Casillas of El Paso, Texas; a brother, Ben Perrault of Glendale, Calif.; a sister, Margaret Perrault of Sherman; 16 grandsons; six grand-daughters; eight great-grandsons; five great-grand daughters; many nieces and nephews; and a sister-in-law, Esther Perrault of Silver City. Pallbearers will be the sons-in law, Barney Quarrell, Eddie Chaires, Ronald Rutz, Roger Lambert, Jasper Maynes and Manny Casillas. Baca's Funeral Chapels is in charge of the arrangements.

Caballero: Refugio Cuco Caballero, 91, a longtime Deming resident, passed away Wednesday at his home. Visitation was to begin at 2 p.m. Friday at Baca's Funeral Chapels in Deming and the vigil service was to be held there that evening at six o'clock. The funeral liturgy was to be celebrated this morning at eleven at St. Ann's Catholic Church and interment was to follow at Mountain View Cemetery. The Rev. Alfred Galvan, pastor, was to officiate. Mr. Caballero was born July 4, 1904 in Guanajuato, Mexico and at the age of 12 came to the Deming area, where he worked as a farm laborer. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church. Survivors include his companion, Ester Calderon of the home; two daughters, Linda C. Martinez of Gallup and Mary Calderon of Deming; two sons, Ronnie of San Diego, Calif. and Leo Noll of Red Bluff, Calif.; and two granddaughters, Mariah Martinez and Patricia Noll. Pallbearers were to be Chino Rodriguez, Benny Urbaniak, Eddie and Marcos Pacheco, Raul Pallares and Benny Amaya Jr. Entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels of Deming.

Caballio: Manuel Caballio, 69, a resident of Deming, was instantly killed about 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Fleming mineral district, about five miles northeast of the John T. McMillen ranch, when his head was crushed by an overturning truck. According to Sheriff Leslie K. Goforth, who investigated the accident, Caballio, riding with his son Alberto, was returning to a small fluorspar mine the men have been working for some time, after delivering a load of ore. At a point near the mine, the truck overturned and the head of the elder man was pinned between the door of the truck and the ground. Sheriff Goforth said it was apparent that the truck wheels were out of line as a king pin holding a rear wheel had been sheared off, allowing the rear azle to slide forward. That, he believed, caused the truck to steer improperly and overturn. The deceased had been a resident of this area all his life. Survivors, other than the son with whom he was working, include a large number of his children and his wife.

Cabazos: Bussie John Cabazos, 38, of Silver City entered life eternal Saturday in Pinos Altos. He was born Feb. 2, 1954, in Silver City, and had been a lifetime resident of Grant County. He was employed by a local fence company for several years, and was a member of the Silver City Moose Lodge. Vigil services will be held tonight at 7 in Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels and committal rite services will be held in the Silver City Catholic Cemetery Wednesday morning at 10. Deacon Alfonso Alvarado will officiate at both services. Veterans honors will be accorded by American Legion Allingham-Golding Post No. 18. Survivors include his father, Bacilio Cabazos of Silver City; his mother, Mary De Lao of Silver City; two brothers, William Joseph Cabazos of Hurley and Edward Paul Cabazos of Silver City; two sisters, Norma Macia of Barstow, Calif., and Catherine Roman of Oroville, Calif.; his paternal grandmother, Lillie Cabazos of Silver City; his maternal grandmother, Jessie Baca of Hurley; four aunts, Bertha Gomez of Silver City, Vera Pino of Los Lunas, Cora Cordova of Hurley and Natilia Armijo of California; and numerous nieces and nephews. Entrusted to the care of Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels.

Cabazos: Paul Cabazos, 64, died at Hillcrest Hospital Monday morning. Mr Cabazos was a native of Elephant Butte, and resided in Grant County for the past 37 years. He was employed by the U. V. Industries, Inc. Surviviors are his wife, Mrs. Paul Cabzos,one son, Bacilio Cabazos, one daughter, Miss Bertha Cabazos, seven granchildren and one great-grandchild, all of Silver City. Also survivng are two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Trujillo of Socorro and Mrs. Maggie Rhinehart of Lovington. Rosary was said in the Curtis-Bright Funeral Chapel, Funeral Mass was recited at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. A. James Minano officiating. Interment followed in the Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Max Hidalgo, Reynaldo Jaramillo, Tony Majalca, Jim Orosco, Cruz Cabazos, and Gregorio Trujillo.

Cabiness: Elmer Lee Cabiness, 71, passed away Saturday in Reserve. He lived on a ranch near Medina, Texas. Services will be held in Medina. Family members selected Curtis-Bright Funeral Home to serve them.

Cabrera: Mrs. Adela P. Cabrera, 51, passed away last Saturday at the family home in Hurley, following a brief illness. Surviving are her husband, Lorenzo C. Cabrera, Sr.; two sons, David of Albuquerque and Nuni, Bayard; two daughters, Mrs. Dan L. Silva, Hurley and Mrs. Joe Kirker, Bayard; two sisters and two brothers. Mass was said at the Hurley Catholic Church at 9 a.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Fr. Ramon Estivill. Burial was in the Hurley cemetery under direction of the Cox Mortuary.

Cabrera: Anita Ozeta Cabrera, 69, died Thursday in Providence memorial Hospital, El Paso. Mrs. Cabrera was a long time resident of Grant County where she was a communicant of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and a member of the Silver City Senior Citizens Club. She is survived by three daughters, Maria Rosario Bustillos of Silver City, Pilar Thompson of Mexican Springs, New Mexico, Amalia Jimenez of Slidell, Louisiana, three sisters, Eva Sainz and Serafina Ogas, both of Silver City, Maria Vigil of Las Cruces, two brothers, Gustavo Monje and Ramon C. Monje both of Silver City, fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Rosary recitation was held Sunday, March 23,at 7:30 p.m. in the Curtis-Bright Funeral Chapel. Mass of the Resurrection was held Monday morning at 10 a.m. at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Monsignor A. James Milano officiatingat both services. Burial followed in the Silver City Catholic Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Cruz L. Bustillos, Sr., Robert Jimenez, Jr., and Phil Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers were Gustavo Monje, Ramon C. Monje, Anthony Sanchez and Jason Jimenez.

Cabrera: Lorenzo C. Cabrera, 78, died Monday, Dec. 3, in Ft. Bayard Medical Center. Mr. Cabrera was born in Rodeoo, N.M., and had been a long time resident of Grant County. He is survived by his daughters, Jessie Silva of Hurley, Tillie Kirker of Central, two sons, Lorenzo C. Cabrera, Jr., of Hurley, David P. Cabrera of Albuquerque, nineteen grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Rosary recitation was Wednesday, Dec. 5, in the Curtis-Bright Chapel. Mass of the resurrection was Thursday, Dec. 6, at the Infant Jesus Catholic Church in Hurley with the Reverend Father Benito Syen officiating at both services. Interment followed in the Hurley Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Samuel Cabrera, Victor, Paul Cabrera, Richard Cabrera, Joe E. Kirker and Gilbert Silva.

COCHRAN: Gilbert (Cliff) 0. Cochran. 65, died Sunday evening in Silver Qty. Mr Cochran was born in Granbary, Texas1 and was a longtime resident of Grant County. He was employed for 23 years by the State of New Mexico as mechanical inspector earning recognition as a colonel aid-de-camp on the staff of the governor of New Mexico Mr. Cochran is survived by his wife Billie Cochran of Hurley, three daughters, Jane Cross of Silver City, Betty Nelson of Albuquerque and Diane Furry of Tucson Ariz; three granddaughters. LeAno Wheeler and Julie Bond of Silver City and Carrie Leenerts of Tucson; and six grandsons, Karl Nelson. Jimmy Nelson, Steven Nelson, David Nelson and Scott Nelson, all of Albuquerque, and Michael Cross of Silver City; two sisters, Jewel McMaster of Lubbock, Texas, and Jean Hanley of Illinois; three brothers, EweII Cochran of Bovina, Texas, J.D. Cochran of Tucumcari, and Fred Cochran of Las Cruces; and three great-grandchildren, Tina, Calvin and Tiffany Bond, all of Silver City: Funeral’ services will be held at 10a.m. Wednesday at the Wheeler Funeral Home Chapel with Mancel Mortenson officiating. Interment w U follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Las Cruces. Serving as pallbearers will be Dave Smith, Milton Herbert, Jerry Beck, Johnny Hayes. Bud Benton, Gene Lane and Bill Powell. Honorary pallbearers will be his six grandsons. Arrangements are by the Wheelr Funeral Home of Silver City.

Caddel: Thomas C. Caddel, a resident of Mesa, Ariz., died Oct 5. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Mountain View Mortuary and Chapel in Mesa. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Mesa. Mr. Caddel was born in Oklahoma. He moved to Arizona 15 years ago from New Mexico. He was employed by Texaco as a pipeline gauger. He was a member of the Masonc Lodge in Eunice. He is survived by a son, Thomas Caddel of Silver City; a sister, Eunice Love of California; a brother, Glenn Caddel of Texas; several nieces and nephews; and one grandchild.

Cade: John Thomas Cade, 80, a resident of Bayard, died Friday at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces. Mr. Cade was born April 16, 1910, at Raton. He grew up in Quay County and graduated from Redlands High School in Redlands, California. He spent a short time at Redlands University, but was mostly self-educated through extensive reading. He spent four years and eight months in the military service during World War II, at first with the Corps of Engineers and later with the Army Air Corps. His overseas service was in England and France. Mr. Cade married Wanda Wysong in Hanover in May 1943. He is survived by his wife, Wanda of Bayard;a daughter, Shirley Ann of Rio Rancho; a son, Gary John of Albuquerque; four grandsons, Jean and Robert Beaupre of Rio Rancho, and Christopher and Tyler Cade of Albuquerque; his sister, Mary Head of Grants; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Cade became a member of the Church of Christ in Bayard in May 1970. He was an active supporter of Little League baseball and Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts in Bayard. He was known for gardening at his home and for many years judged flowers, fruits and vegetables at the Grant County Fair and other contests in the area. He was a member of the Rolling Stones rock club and numerous other civic and veterans organizations. Mr. Cade retired from Chino Mines as a locomotive engineer at Santa Rita. Services will be held at Curtis-Bright Funeral Home in Silver City at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Interment will be in the Fort Bayard National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Christian Children's Homes in Portales or Gallup in care of the Bayard Church of Christ. Family members selected Curtis-Bright Funeral Home to serve them.

CADE: Wanda Wysong Cade, a longtime resident of Bayard, died Tuesday afternoon at Gila Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Cade, 80, was diagnosed with leukemia in February and had spent most of the past two months at home. She was born June 28, 1916, in Garden City, Texas, and was one of the eight children of John and Hattie Wysong. While she was still an infant, her family moved to Lea County in New Mexico, where they had a ranch and she began school. Her family sold the ranch and she attended school in Carlsbad several years. After the family moved to Bayard, she graduated from Hurley High School. Mrs. Cade then enrolled at New Mexico State Teachers College (now Western New Mexico University). Even before graduating, she began teaching elementary school in Hurley, and received her bachelor’s degree in 1941. In all, she taught school full time for five years. During World War II, Mrs. Cade interrupted her teaching career and went to Los Angeles, where she wired P-S I Mustangs being built by North American Aviation for Allied forces. On May 25, 1943, she married John T. Cade and they returned to Florida, where he was stationed with the Army Air Corps. After Mr. Cade was sent overseas, she returned to Bayard with her daughter, Shirley Ann, and had lived there ever since. Two years later, in 1947, Mrs. Cade gave birth to her son. Gary at Santa Rita. After her Children were born, Mrs. Cade became a full-time homemaker, although she occasionally worked as a substitute teacher in the Cobre school system. She was an active volunteer throughout Grant County for many organizations. and served as a leader for Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts and as a poll watcher, among other contributions. Mrs. Cade was a member of., the Church of Christ and was baptized at age 13 in the Pecos River in Carlsbad. She attended the Bayard Church several years represented the Grant County Home Extension Council at state meetings. She and her late husband were also active in the Rolling Stones Rockhound Club of Grant County. Mrs. Cade was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1991. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Beaupre, of Rio Rancho, and her son, Gary Cade, and his wife, Kathy. of Albuquerque. Mrs. Cade has four grandsons, Jean Beaupre of Cincinnati, Robert Beaupre of Rio Rancho, and Christopher and Tyler Cade of Albuquerque. She is also survived by her sister, Lula Andrews of Dallas; a brother, Allen Wysong, and his wife, Leona, of Bayard; two sisters-in-law, Mauricette Wysong of Bayard and Mary Head of Grants; 13 nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be held in the Curtis-Bright Funeral Home Chapel at ii a.m. Friday. Interment will be in at Fort Bayard National Cemetery. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Bayard Church of Christ for its building fund or

Cadena: Funeral services for Cruz G. Cadena, who died Monday morning about 10:45, were held Wednesday at 8;30 in the St. Vincent Church with Fr. John Linnane officiating. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery at 4 p.m., and in charge of the Cox Mortuary. Death occurred to Mr. Cadena following a sudden attack when he was assisting in the shoeing of a horse at the Max Madrid blacksmith shop on Arizona St. An emergency call was sent to the city police and the sheriff's department who responded quickly, as did Dr. Sidney Baker, who pronounced the aged man dead after an examination. The cause was heart failure. The deceased was born in Santa Barbara in May 1880. A farmer by occupation, he spent the early years of his life near Santa Barbara. In later life he moved into Grant County where he resided for the last 29 years.

Cadman: Jean B. Cadman, 73, died Tuesday, January 9, in Silver City. Mrs. Cadman was a native of McAlaster, Oklahoma and a resident of Grant County. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Vivian Johnson of Silver City, three nephews and one niece. Funeral services were Friday, January12 in the Curtis-Bright Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Eugene Bjork officiating. Cremation followed in Albuquerque.

Cailloux: John F. Cailloux, a former resident of Silver City, died Tuesday in Tulsa, Okla., according to word received by friends here. He had been in ill health for the past year or more and had just returned home from a trip to Europe with his family. Mr. Cailloux was prominent in industrial affairs in Oklahoma for many years as one of the principal owners and directors of a major oil and gas heavy equipment manufacturing corporation and also was interested in oil and gas operations. He was successful in these activities in which he amassed a fortune. During the seven years that the Cailloux family lived in Silver City they participated in the social life of the community. They purchased and remodeled a home on Santa Rita Street, converting it into a beautiful and spacious residence on a site comprising half a block and also built a guest house and patio. Their home was one of unbounded hospitality. Also, they acquired a site on the East Fork of the Gila River in the Gila National Forest and built a mountain lodge where they entertained friends during the fishing and hunting seasons. While a resident here, Mr. Cailloux was a leader in all activities and projects of the Silver City-Grant County Chamber of Commerce and in civic affairs. He was one of the principal contributors in the construction of the First Methodist Church, comparable to the finest houses of worship in New Mexico. As a member of a group of citizens who organized the Southwestern New Mexico Fair Association, which financed the construction of the Silver Park racing plant on U.S. Highway 260 east of Silver City, he was one of the principal stockholders of this venture. An ardent sportsman, Mr. Cailloux was a member of The Southwestern New Mexico Sportsmen's Association and supported conservation of game and fish and all wildlife. He often made deep sea fishing trips to the West Coast of Mexico and big game hunting expeditions with friends to Montana, Canada and Alaska. Every program to further the progress and growth of Silver City and Grant Coiunty had his wholehearted and unselfish support. Numerous projects were carried out successfully largely as a result of his efforts, and he established himself as one of silver City's foremost citizens and benefactors. Immediate members of the family surviving are his wife, Mrs. Louise Cailloux; a son, John F. Cailloux, Jr.; and a daughter, Camille. Funeral services were to be held today in Tulsa where burial will take place.

R. Wolford Cain, co-founder of Southern I Jnion Company and longtime chairman of the board, died in Dallas November 15 at the age of 86. In 1929 Cain, along with a group of Dallas oilmen, including Clint Murchison. Sr., founded what became Southern Union Gas Company, now Southern Union Company (NYSE). Cain served as chairman of the hoard of directors for 44 years and was a member of the board- from the time it was formed in 1929 until April. 1976, when he ‘has named permanent honorary chairman and member of the board. Born in Athens, Texas, in 1891, Cain earned a bachelor of science degree from Texas A & M in 1913. He was an active participant in Texas A&M’s educational planning and administrative affairs. He served as chairman of the Texas A&M Development foundation in 1950 and as, trustee of ? Foundation for more than 20 years. From 1965 to l97I he was a member of the TAMU System Board of Directors. In 1954,Cain was presented the Distinguished Alumni Award in recognition of his providing more than I0Ooppoiixinity award scholarships to students and contributions

building funds. Cain was a member of several business and professional societies, including the American Gas Association, the American Petroleum Institute, the Southern Gas Association, the Texas Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association and the Dallas Petroleum Club. He had served as president and director of the Dallas heart Association and director of Boys, Inc. of America, He was a member of the Hella Temple Shrine, the Dallas Chamber of Commerce and University Park Methodist Church. Cain is survived by his wife Effie.

Mrs. Abigail Marleth Cain, 68, of Vici, Ok, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M.L. Thomas, at the Cottage San Thursday morning. She had been here two months visiting her daughter and family when death seized her. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. J.C. Thompson, Mangus Ok, Mrs. W. P. Altman Leady Ok, and Mrs. Thomas. The body was shipped to her home where funeral services and arrangements will be performed.

Fransisco V Colderon of Tucson, a former long time resident of Bayard died Monday in a Tucson hospital. He had been employed at Silver Bell Az. Survivors include his widow, Mrs Lydia Calderon; and four step children, Patericia, Mike, Manual, and Martin, all of Tucson; two sisters, Mrs Thomas Dromgoole of Bayard and Mrs Consuelo Fletcher of Silver Bell Az. And one brother, Pedro Calderon of Tucson. Rosary was held Wednesday at the Tucson mortuary; and the funeral mass at 9am at St. John’s Catholic church. Burial was in the Holy Hope Cemetery in Tucson

CALDERON: Higinio Trujillo Calderon, 88. died Wednesday morning in Silver City. Mr. Calderon born in Sherman and was a lifelong resident of Grant County. He was a communicant of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Mr. Calderon is survived by two daughters, Maria Refuglo Placencio of Tonapah, Nev., and Elvira Dominguez of Gila; two sons, Domingo Calderon of Silver City and Manuel Calderon of El Paso, Texas; 11 grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will he Frank Parra, Manuel Elms, Lois Carrasco, Crecensin Correa and Frank Johnson. Arrangements are by the Wheeler Funeral Home of Silver City.

Funeral services for Jesus T Calderon were held Tuesday morning at 10:30 at the Hurley Catholic Church. Mr. Calderon, who was 65 al the time of his death on Sunday had been a resident of Hurley’ for the past 30 years. He was a retired foreman of the Chino Minus division of Kennecott Copper Corp. He is survived by his wife, Delores P. Calderon: fIve daughters, Miss Estefana Caldfron Hurley, Mrs. Frank Duran, Central, Mrs Albert C Gonzales, Mrs. Mike Garza, Jr. and Mrs. Tony Martinez, all of Silver City; seven grandchildren three brothers, Jose, Bernabe and Crispin, all of Mexico. Pallbearers were David Agullera, Sr., Manuel Carreon, Simon Terazza Sr, Edward Alvarez. Carlos Elvira. and Eukalio Rodriquez.. Burial was in the Central cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Cox mortuary.

Mrs. Maria M. Calderon, born in San Miguel, N. M., in 1868, died Monday at Hillcrest General Hospital. Mrs. Calderon was brought to the Mimbres Valley as a child and had resided there over 80 years. Recently she had made her home with a niece, Mrs. Cecelia Serna, in Bayard. She was preceded in death in 1947 by her, husband, Santiago Calderon. Survivors other than the niece include a brother, Cleoafos Montoya of Phoenix; a sister, Margarita Serna of Bayard; and an adopted son, Bernardo Nuanez of Santa Fe. Rosary services were held Tuesday in the chapel at Curtis Mortuary, and mass was said at 10 o’clock Wednesday morning at the San Juan Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. Jose Ascon officiating. Burial was in the San Juan Cemetery.

Calderon: Mrs. Marian Amy Calderon, 47, a resident of Reserve, died Sunday. Funeral services were held in the Seventh Day Adventist Church at Reserve Wednesday, with burial in the Reserve cemetery, directed by the Cox Mortuary. Calderon: Eugene R. Calderon, 65, a lifetime Silver City resident, entered life eternal Sunday at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was born Nov. 15, 1927, in Sherman. Mr. Calderon was a member of the Catholic Church. He retired from Chino Mines after 55 years of service. Calling hours will be from 3-9 p.m. Wednesday in Baca's Funeral Chapels, where the prayer vigil will begin at 7 with Deacon Bill Holguin reciting. The funeral liturgy will be recited Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Rod Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at the Silver City Catholic Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with his mother, who preceded him in death. Survivors include one sister, Cecilia Calderon of Silver City, and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Genaro Calderon, and two half brothers, Hilario and Cecilio Calderon. Calderon: Graveside funeral services were held Tuesday in the Catholic cemetery for Francisco Calderon, 95-year-old pioneer of the Upper Mimbres, who died Friday. He was one of the oldest residents of that area and in recent years due to advanced age, had been looked after by his neighbors. There were no known surviving relatives.

Calderon: Pedro U. Calderon, 69, a resident of Tucson, Ariz., and formerly of Grant County, died Monday in Keno Community Hospital in Tucson. Mr. Calderon was born Dec. 14, 1920, in Tyrone. Visitation will be held Thursday from 4-10 p.m. in Tucson Mortuary, north chapel, where the rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated Friday morning at 10 in St. John's church in Tucson with burial in Holy Hope Cemetery. Survivors are his wife, Cleotilde, four daughters, Maria Elena Quigley, Natalia Glen, Alicia Jaure and Monica Espinosa, and a son Roberto Calderon, all of Tucson; two sisters, Tomasa Drumgoole of Bayard and Consuelo Fletcher of Tucson; and 12 grandchildren. Santiago Caldtron, 89. died Wednesday morning at the Silver City General hospital. He had lived in the Mimbres Valley for 65 years. Born in the state of Chihuahua, Mexico, July 25, 185S, he came to Grant county and established his home.. He engaging in farming and ranching. Survivors are his widow, the former Maria Montoya; a daughter, Mrs Anastacionastacio Hurtada and Miss Felicitas Calderon of Santa Ritaa: and Mrs. Maxcina Majia of Silver City; : and a SOfl, Amhrosio Calderon of Gallup Funeral services will be held this afternoon at San Juan. Cox Mortuary is in charge.

Hall N Calhoun, 75, well know registered pharmacist, of Silver City, died of a heart attack last Saturday the family home. The fatal attack came without warning. Mr Calhoun had been a pharmacist druggist for 54 years. He had resided here for the past seven years and had been associated with the Meadows Drug Store and the James Prescription Shop. Surviving are his wife,- two sons, H. N. Calhoun, Jr., Tucson, Ariz.; Dr. Judson J. Calhoun, Silver City dentist, and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shephard, the Rev. David E. Holt officiating. Following rites here, the body was taken to Tucson with internment at Southlawn Memorial Mausoleum.

Mrs. June Calhoun, mother of Dr. Judson Calhoun, of Phoenix, passed away last Saturday In Masa Arizona. While Dr. Calhoun was a resident of Silver City, where he served as mayor, she also resided here and had a wide circle of friends in this community. Funeral services were held Monday in the Episcopal Church at Mesa. Interment took place in. a Tucson cemetery.

CALKINS: Jane C. Calkins, born June 26, 1921, went to with the Lord Saturday. Mrs. Calkins touched many peoples lives because of her love for Jesus. She lived her life according to the scriptural principle: If you want to be great in God's kingdom, he the servant of all. Her love was shared in the Silver City Gospel Mission, New Life Fellowship Soup Kitchen, Good Morning Calling, Women's Aglow and Southwest Christian Center. She attended First Baptist Church and Living Word Family Church. She is survived by her sister, Rose G. Boyd of Warren, Ohio; her sister-in-law, Hele n D. Grirnshaw of Clearwater, F1 and six children, Kathy Sanders of M Great Falls Mont., Susie Herman of Black Hawk, S.D., Diane Detweiler of Vinnernucca, Nev., Janice Grider of Connersville, md., JR.

Calkins of Silver City, and Steve Calkins of El Paso, Texas, and their spouses. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jesse. Ben and April Herman, Katie Sandeis, James Detweiler, and Mitchell and Morgan Grider; and 10 nieces and nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert W. Calkins; her patents, Robert and Beulah Grimshaw; her brother, Charles Grimshaw and her sister, Leona Wagncr. A memorial service will be held Friday at 10 am. at the First Baptist Church. Frank E. Callaway, 76, veteran of World War I, died Sunday at Fort Bayard Veterans Hospital. He was a retired lumber yard owner of Las Cruces. Surviving is his wife, Mrs. Judith Callaway. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Fort Bayard chapel, followed by burial in the hospital cemetery with full military honors. Interment was under direction of the Wheeler Mortuary at Deming.

Mrs Alice Calloway, 77, a resident of cliff for over 40 years died this past week in her home. Survivors are her husband I E Calloway; three sons, Leonard of Arenas Valley, Willard Springerville, and Alton Amarillo Tx; a daughter Mrs Marie Rogers Springerville; 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a brother Isac Henry and three sisters, Nettie, and Nora Goff and eva Sturgill all of Mason Tx. Funeral services were conducted Monday at the Assembly of God church, cliff by the Rev Leroy Swartzendruber followed by burial in the gila Mesa cemetery under the direction of Curtis mortuary. Serving as pallbearers were Duke Pitts, Ray freeman, Chester Williams, Wayne Dickerson, Allen Coffelt and Willis Dickerson.

Calloway: Elva Mae Calloway, 73, a longtime Grant County resident, entered eternal rest early Sunday morning at her home in Arenas Valley. She was born April 25, 1916, in Jackson County, Ky., and moved to Silver City at the age of 13. She was married to Leonard Calloway in December 1933. They made their home in Cliff for four years before moving to Lordsburg to work at her uncle's store. In1938, they moved to Glenwood, where they operated a store and service station. In 1946, they relocated to Arenas Valley when her husband went to work for the mines. She worked for the Pennington Department Store in Silver City for 15 years. She was a member of the Pennington family. She was known by her friends and family for her love of life and people, but most of all for her commitment to the Lord. She was an active member of the First Assembly of God Church, where she served as secretary and Sunday School superintendent. She was director of the Children's Church and a longtime member of Women's Aglow. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. until Noon Wednesday in Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2, also in Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels, with Brother Roy Stewart presiding. Concluding services will follow in Memory Lane Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest in the family plot. Calloway: James A. Calloway, 74, of El Paso, World War I veteran, died last Saturday at Fort Bayard Veterans Administration Hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Fort Bayard chapel, followed by burial in the hospital cemetery, with full military honors. He had no known near relatives and listed as his next friend, the Rev. Fr. William Martay of Truth or Consequences.

Calloway: Leonard W. Calloway, 85, a resident of Arenas Valley, entered life eternal Monday at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was born Sept. 22, 1906, in Mason County, Texas, to I.E. and Alice Calloway. In 1917, he and his family came to New Mexico, where they homesteaded in the Sacaton Canyon above Cliff. As he was growing up, he worked as a cowboy for area ranchers and with the Forest Service, stocking fish in the Gila Wilderness. In 1933, Mr. Calloway met and married Elva M. Fields, and moved to a small ranch at Lobo Canyon on the Gila River. In 1946, they moved to Arenas Valley and he went to work as a carpenter for Chino Mines until his retirement in 1971. He spent his time enjoying his children and his horses. Mr. Calloway was a member of the Assembly of God, and was instrumental in organizing the Arenas Valley Water Association. Calling hours will be from noon to 1:30p.m. Thursday in Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels, where the funeral service will be held at 2 with Van Bevill officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Lane Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife, Elva, who preceded him in death Feb. 24, 1991. Survivors include two sons, Billy R. CALLOWAY; Services were held Monday for Helen Calloway; 50, a Lordsburg resident, who died suddenly. She was a worker for the New Mexico Department of human Services for several years where she was food stamp certifier’ in Lordsburg, Mrs. Calloway was transferred to the Grant County Income Support Division in July this year. She is survived by her husband Hob of Lordsburg two Sons amid one daughter. Services were held in St. Joseph Church in Lordsburg with burial in Lordsburg.

Mrs. Grace Calvin, 62, wife of Dr. Ross Calvin, and a former resident of Silver City for more than 12 years, during which her husband was rector of the Episcopal Church of the Good Sheperd, died last Saturday in Albuquerque, after a long illness.

Mrs. Calvin devoted most of her adult life to religious service with the church of her faith. Until Dr. Calvin’s retirement, the family had lived in Clovis where he was rector of St. James Episcopal Church. Surviving are her husband; a son, Rodney Calvin, Farmington, and a ‘daughter, Mrs. Edward Balcomb, Albuquerque. Funeral services were held at Albuquerque where burial took place.

Calvin: Dr. Ross R. Calvin, 80, a former rector of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Silver City, died in a nursing home in Albuquerque. Dr. Calvin took his doctorate in English philology at Harvard. He taught at Syracuse University in New York and later prepared for ordination at the General Theological Seminary, becoming a curate in Trinity Parish. When his health failed, he came to the Southwest in 1947 and served as pastor in churches in Clovis and Silver City. He was an author of note, probably his best known work being Sky Determines' which was published in 1934 and is considered a classic study of New Mexico and its ecology. Other books were River of the Sun and Lieutenant Emory Reports with notes and introduction by Ross Calvin. He also contributed a number of articles to the New Mexico Magazine. Survivors include his widow, Iris of Albuquerque; his daughter, Mrs. Edward V. Balcomb; two sons, Rodney Calvin of Denver and Ross R. Calvin Jr. of Los Alamos and 10 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, February 2 at St. John's Cathedral, with the Episcopal clergy officiating. Burial followed in the Fairview Park Cemetery in Albuquerque.

Camacho: Roberto M. Camacho, 65, a lifelong resident of Lordsburg, passed away Sunday at Gila Regional Medical Center. Mr. Camacho was born March 3, 1930 in Lordsburg to Ventura and Petra Morales Camacho. He was a carpenter by trade and worked for the city of Lordsburg until his retirement in 1993. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Lordsburg. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Frances Martinez Camacho; four sons, Longino M. Camacho and his wife, Sue, Frank M. Camacho and Joe M. Camacho, all of Lordsburg, and Robert M. Camacho and his wife, Lucy of Silver City; and four daughters, Belinda Chavez and her husband, Wally, Anna Estrada and her husband, Dennis, and Patsy Camacho and her husband, Eddie, all of Lordsburg, and Irene Quintana and her husband, Hector of Morenci, Ariz. He is also survived by his brothers, Henry Camacho and Ventura Camacho, both of Lordsburg, and Pat Camacho of Colton, Calif.; his sister, Vera Aguilar of Colton; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. CAMPBELL: Dawson Alk ‘Doe” Campbell, 85, of Gila Hot Springs passed away Monday, May 11, at home surrounded by his family and under the care of Gila Regional Hospice. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ida Foster Campbell; his daughter, Ysahel, and husband, Paul Luecke: son, Allen, and wife, Carla; son, Angus, and wife, Kathleen; daughter, Rebecca, and husband. David Snow; three. grandchildren, Kristina Lopez. and Nathan and Kyle Campbell; a sister-in-law, Alice Hill, and husband, Jack, of Silver City; a brother, Rayhurn Campbell of New Wilmington, Pa.; and an extensive family in the New Wilmington area. The Campbell family is planning a memorial service at the ? Hot Springs in the near future. He was horn Dec. 5, 1912, in Mercer County, Pa., on a family farm to Thomas Bruce and Ethel Davis Campbell. He was nicknamed Doe” at an early age by his step-grandfather. Mr. Campbell’s father was a loundryman, working in various steel companies in Pennsylvania, Illinois and New York state, so the family moved often and the children attended quite a few schools. Summers were pen at his grandparents’ farm near New Wilmington, in western Pennsylvania. Because of chronic sinus trouble, he came to the Southwest in 1929, when he was 16 years old. He landed in El Paso, Texas, heard of Silver City and came to this area. He lived in Pinoe Altos for a short time, working for Frank Eaton, mainly chauffeuring him. Eaton had never learned to drive. While in Pinos Altos, Mr. Campbell met Jack Jeffers, who was visiting Eaton. He was intrigued by Jeffer’s description of the Upper Gila country. and, after Thanksgiving, went Out with Jeffers to Alum Camp. This was on the main Gila and three miles below Gila Hot Springs. Mr. Campbell camped out during the winter until he went to work For Margaret Scholl at the Gila Hot Springs. She was part owner of the hot springs, in partnership with Leslie Fleming and his wife, Bobbie. Mr. Campbell’s job Was to pack in on mules everything and anything needed, from the Goforth Place where the road ended, a site now the Gila River Ranch. He learned, rapidly, the art of packing. Mr. Campbell next worked for Hugh Hodgc at the XSX to help put up a load of hay, and worked there from 193 I -35, first as ranch hand and later as foreman. During the summers ol’ 1936 and 1937, he was employed by the Forest Service at the White Creek Ranger Station and Little Creek Fire Cabin as a firefighter. After Hugh Hodges death in the fall (>1’ 1937, Mr. Campbell went hack to the XSX, as general manager for Mrs. Nudge, until he bought the Gila Hot Springs from the Flemings in February 1940. In November 1940, Mr. Campbell married Ida Foster in Hollywood. Calif., where the family was living at the time. The Campbells made their home at Gila Hot Springs. He was appointed custodian of the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument by the southwest regional director of the National Park Service at $12 a year. From 1942 to 1962, he worked as custodian, park ranger, and, acting superintendent at the cliff dwellings until he retired. From 1940 on, his main business was packing, guiding and outfitting. His four children helped him, as each became old enough, and each ran the outfit in turn. The youngest, Becky” snow, now owns and runs the business. In 1964, Doe Campbell’s Post and trailer park were opened For business. At the same time that the new recreation road, approved by Congress, was built as far as Little Creek, one mile beyond the store. The road was completed to the cliff dwellings and the and the visitors Center by 1966. Mr Cambell was one of the charter members of the Southwest Resource Conservation and Development Council. now called the Black Range RC&D Council. He was a trustee ol the New Mexico Coordinating Council at Las Cruces, and one of the founders of the New Mexico Guides and Outfitters Association. Floyd B. Campbell, 73, retired office staff member of the Empire Zinc Co. at Hanover, where he was employed for many years, died last Friday in Carlsbad, where he had resided in recent years. He well well known throughout the Grant County. mining district. Following his retirement, Mr. Campbell was office manager for several years of the Home Furniture Co. in Silver City, and there after was with a furniture firm in Carlsbad, operated by John Osborn and Calvin Graef, formerly of Silver City. Funeral services were held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Curtis Mortuary chapel. Conducting the rites was the Rev. Garry Kamrling of the First Presbyterian Church. Interment was in the Masonic cemetery where his wife is buried. Attending the services for their father were’ a son, Jack H. Cambell of High Point, North Carolina, and Miss Martha J. Campbell, of Boulder, Colo., a member of the faculty of the University of Colorado.

CAMPBELL: Ross Herbert Campbell, 54, a resident of Silver City, went home to be 'with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 12, at Gila Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at Baca's Funeral Chapels, on Saturday at 2 in the afternoon, with Pastor David Prell officiating. Mr. Campbell was born in Dawson, N.M., on Aug. 14, 1945. On Sept: 3, 1966, ' he was married to Dona Louise Coker. He was a graduate of Western New Mexico University/and taught math and algebra at La Plata Middle School. He was also a journeyman electrician for Phelps Dodge Corp. at Tyrone for 16 years. Mr. Campbell was a dedicated family man. He was very proud of his three sons, and loved to spend time hunting, fishing and camping with them. He was a member | of Indian Hills Baptist J Church. Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife, Dona; three sons and daughters-in-law, Shawn and Melette Campbell, and Mike and Jeanetta Campbell of Silver City, and Matt and Janu Campbell of Las Cruces; six grandchildren, Bryandra and Kaleb Campbell, Darin Campbell, James Campbell, and Mark and Billy Benavidez; a sister and brother- in-law, Barbara and Doug Brokaw of Tucson, Ariz.; two brothers and sisters-in- .law, John and Sheryl Camp- bell of Tucson, and Bruce and Linda Campbell of Leander, Texas; a stepbrother, Robert Campbell; a step sister, Connie Catandella; and numerous nieces and nephews. Alberta B. Campbell, 75, of Las Cruces, died Saturday, May 5 in Las Cruces. She had lived in the area about four years. She was a home maker and organist and a 25 - year volunteer for the Red Cross. She also did a lot of volunteer work at Fort Bayard. Cremation has taken place. No services are scheduled. She is survived by her husband, Bill, of Las Cruces. Cambell; Mildred Jensen Campbell, 90, died April 26 at Fort Bayard. Mildred was born June 30, 1893 in Colonia Diaz, Mexico and came to NM in August 1912. She has lived in Arenas Valley since 1929 and was employed by Fort Bayard where she met and married Frank Campbell in 1925. He preceded her in death in 1936. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, among them are Mrs. Mary Tenney of Silver City, Mrs. June Hamilton of Weatherford, Tx, Mrs. Margaret Reaves of El Paso, Tx, Mr. Jesse Lee of Long Beach, CA, Capt. Kenneth Lee, U.S.N. of Hamilton Air Force Base, Ca, LaVon Cardon of El Paso, Tx, Tommy Jensen of Douglas, Az. and one sister, Minie Lee of Long Beach, Ca, along with a host of friends. Services were held April 28 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Swan St. in Silver City with Bishop Terry Heiner officiating. Interment followed at Memory Lane Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Gene Galassini Sr., Gene Galassini Jr. Richard Hamilton and Leon Rawlins. Campbell: Robert F. Bud Campbell, 86, of Silver City entered life eternal Wednesday afternoon in Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces. He was born Dec. 19,1904, in Indianapolis and had been a Grant County resident since 1950. He was a longtime employee of the Grant County Sheriff's Department, where he worked as a radio dispatcher and jailer. He retired in 1973. Mr. Campbell was a member of the New Mexico Sheriffs and Police Association and the Silver City Elks Lodge. Calling hours will be from 2-4 Sunday afternoon in Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels, where funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10 with the Rev. Kenneth Palmer officiating. Campbell, Salas: Holly Lynn Campbell, 24, and her son, Zackary Cruz Salas, 6, died of injuries sustained in a tragic auto accident that occurred in Arenas Valley Tuesday afternoon. She died at Gila Regional Medical Center Tuesday and her son died the following day at University Medical Center in Albuquerque. Merced B. Campos, Fierro, 81, died Sept. 10 at Thuson, Ariz. He was born in Zacatecas, Mexico, in 1885 and had resided in Fierro since 1916. He retired in 1950, having worked for various mining companies in Grant County. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Pete Loya of Deming and Mrs. Manuel Parra of Bagdad, Ariz; one son, Cruz K. Campos of Tucson; 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Rosary services were held at Curtis Mortuary Monday at 730 o’clock. High Mass was held at Fierro Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. Interment followed in Fierro Cemetery.

Mrs. EvangeIina Campos. 31, former Silver City resident, died Monday in a Sacramento, Calif., hospital. Survivors are her husband and two children Funeral services and burial took place in Sacramento.

CAMPOS: Tony S. Campos, 57, passed away Tuesday, April 21, at University of New Mexico Medical Center in Albuquerque. He was a resident of Albuquerque for more than 30 years. He was born Aug. 15, 1940, to Antonio and Pirilia S. Campos in Dawson, N.M., along with his twin brother, Tommy. Mr. Campos retired in 1997 in Albuquerque from the Department of Motor Vehicles after 30 years of ‘service. He worked for the Gila National Forest as a firefighter, helicopter dispatcher and organizer on forest fires until 1967. He also worked for Fort Bayard Medical Center as a nurses aide. Mr. Campos attended Western New Mexico University, New, Mexico State University, barbers college in El Paso, Texas, and computer college in Albuquerque. He had a black belt in karate and was in the Golden Gloves, becoming the state champion of New Mexico at the age of 14. He weighed 114 pounds. He won his medals, belts and trophies in 1956. Mr. Campos was in the National Guard. He was known for his humor, patience and toying kindness. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and family. He was quiet and was a loving brother and uncle. He liked. casinos but never won much. He will be greatly missed by all. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joe S. Campos, in 1975; his niece, Juanita Pirilia McMurdo, in 1982; his father, Antonio A. Campos, in 1982; and his mother, Pirilia S. Campos, in 1994. Survivors include his wife, Sally, of Albuquerque; five sisters, Bea C. Johnson of Ripon, Calif., Patricia C. Fernandez of Silver City, Juanita S. McMurdo and her husband, John, of Silver City, Virginia Garcia and her husband, Ray, of Truth or Consequences, and Jackie Martinez and her husband, Horace, of Hanover; his brother, Anthony J. Campos, and his wife, Helen, and family of Edgewood; many cousins, nieces and nephews; his uncle Joe Campos of Santa Fe; and two great-great-nieces. Cremation was to take place and disposal of the ashes is pending.

CAMPOS: Virginia M. Campos, 85, a resident of Santa Clara, entered into eternal rest Friday, July 10, at Fort Bayard Medical Center. She was born June 25, 1914, in Santa Clara. She was a homemaker and was a communicant of Infant Jesus Catholic Church in Hurley. Calling hours will be from 2- 4 p.m. Tuesday at Baca's Funeral Chapels. The prayer vigil will be held that evening at 7 at Infant Jesus Catholic Church. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m., also at Infant Jesus Catholic Church, with Father Dan Porter officiating. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Angel Campos; two brothers; and three sisters. Mr.Campos was born in San Juan, New Mexico and had been a life long resident of Grant County where he worked for Kennecott Copper Corporation. He was also a member of the American Legion Post Noo.18. Campos: Pirilia Antonia Sandoval Campos, 88, a resident of Grant County since 1944, died Wednesday at Fort Bayard Medical Center. She was born Feb. 17, 1906, in El Carmel, N.M., to Eusevio and Ramoncita MaesLas Sandoval. She retired in 1970 from Western New Mexico University, where she worked as a custodian. She was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and was active in the Altar Society, the Guadalupanas and aid to the poor programs. Survivors include two sons, Tony S. Campos Jr. and his wife, Rosa, and Anthony Campos and his wife, Helen, all of Albuquerque; five daughters, Juanita McMurdo and her husband, John, Patsy Fernandez and Virginia Gonzales, all of Silver City. Jackie Campos Martinez and her husband, Horace, of Hanover, and Beatrice Campos Johnson of Empire, Calif.; two sisters, Jesusita and Raefelita Sandoval of Mora; six grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two ,great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Antonio A. Campos, in 1982, a son, Joe S. Campos, in 1976, and a granddaughter, Juanita McMurdo, in 1982. Canady: Mrs. Polly Ann Canady, 72, died at Hillcrest Hospital, Thursday, Feb. 27. Mrs. Canady was a native of Shirley, Ark., and had lived in Hurley for the past 50 years. Candelaria: Larry Candelaria, 74, a lifelong resident of Silver City, passed away Sunday at Hacienda de Salud. He was born March 3, 1919 in Silver City to Jesus and Juana (Romero) Candelaria. He married Julia Tolentino on May 10, 1978 in Silver City. He was an early riser who enjoyed meeting friends at the Drifter Pancake House for coffee and doughnuts. Mr. Candelaria enjoyed visiting family members in Deming and relaxing on his porch during the evening hours. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Julia Candelaria of Silver City; three daughters, Jenny Sanchez and her husband, Ruben, of Deming, Nellie Garcia of Silver City and Nellie Becker of Roswell; a son, Lorenzo Candelaria and his wife, Gloria, of Deming; four sisters, Anita Molina of La Habra, Calif., Cruz Sandoval and her husband, Ernest, of Bakersfield, Calif., Socorro Dominguez of Central, and Vivian Hernandez and her husband, Rosario, of Silver City; his first wife, Beatriz Hernandez of Deming; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juana and Jesus Candelaria; a son, Larry Candelaria Jr. in 1971 and a sister, Marcela Romero, in 1969. Candelaria: Alex G. Candelaria, 61, of El Rio, Calif., died Sunday at St. John's Hospital in Ventura, Calif. He was a former resident of Fierro. He is survived by his wife, Soledad; two sons, David Candelaria of Tepesquet, Calif., and Alex Candelaria Jr., of Midland, Texas; three brothers, Mel and Johnny of California and Cosme of El Paso, Texas; three sisters, Julie and Ramona of California and Josie of Truth or Consequences; and five grandchildren. Candelaria: Maria Louisa Candelaria, 74, died at Hillcrest Hospital March 23. Mrs. Candelaria, a native if Zacatecas, Mexico, had lived in Bayard for the past 51 years. Her husband Juan L. Candelaria, preceded her in death in 1966. Survivors include two sons, Joe and Jesus, both of Bayard; three daughters, Mrs. Maria Huerta, Mrs. Hortence Facio and Mrs. Luz Lucero, all of Bayard; 25grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Rosary was said in the Curtis-Bright Chapel at 7:30 p.m. March 24 with the funeral Mass being recited in Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Bayard at 10 a.m. March 25. Interment followed in the Catholic Cemetery in Silver City with the Rev. Fr. Adrien St. Charles officiating. Pallbearers were the following grandsons: Tony Huerta, Eddie Huerta, Benny Facio, Sonny Facio, Johnny Candelaria and Bobby Candelaria.

Mrs. Victoriana D. Candelaries, 76, of Hurley, passed away in Silver City Monday. Recently he suffered a severe-fall at her-home and failed to recover from a fractured hip which had confined her to the hospital. Rosary services were held Tuesday evening at the Cox Mortuary. Mass was said at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Hurley Catholic Church by the Rev. Fr. Ramon Estivill. Burial was in the Hurley cemetery. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lauro Silva, Hurley, and Mrs. Nick Hill, Los Angeles; a son, Pete Candelaries, - Los Angeles: two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mrs. M. S. Candlello died early this morning at her residence, 708 W. 7th Street, city. She had been in ill health during recent years. She is immediately survived by her husband; two Sons, Vincent and Henry, and a daughter, Mrs. Dick Laird. Funeral arrangements are pending with Cox Mortuary.

Candiello; Michael S. Candiello, 98, died June 3 in Kilgore, Tx. Mr. Candiello was born Jan. 17, 1886 in Naples, Italy and came to this country at the age of 17. He resided in Silver City for many years and was the owner-operator of the White Palace Barber Shop, before moving to Kilgore some 13 years ago. He was a lifetime member of the Silver City Masonic Lodge No. 8 A.F.& A.M. Mr. Candiello was preceded in death by his wife Mary, who died June 18, 1953. Survivors include his daughter, Mrs. Dick Laird of Kilgore, Tx; two sons, Henry H. Candiello of Heascader Ca, and Vincent S. Candiello of Bisbee, Az; six grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren. Graveside services were held June 7 at the Masonic Cemetery under the direction of the Silver City Masonic Lodge No. 8 A.F. & A.M. Serving as pallbearers were U.L. Conner, Harold A. Cope, William J. CANDIELLO: Henry Hank Candiello, 76, of Santa Maria, Calif., died of pneurnococcial pneumonia Thursday, Jan. 11, at Marion Hospital in Santa Maria. A memorial service will be held this afternoon. Cremation will be followed by the scattering of ashes at sea, Mr. Candiello was born Sept. 30, 1919, in Silver City, where he was raised. He attended Western New Mexico University. He was in the Air Force during World War II and served his tour of duty in England and France. He worked as a chemist in the laboratory at the Chevron Refinery in El Segundo, Calif., from 1946 to 1977. He was a resident of El Segundo for 22 years. He married Use Wathen in 1974 and they lived in Palos Verdes, Calif., for four years. They moved to Alascadero, Calif., in 1977 and then to Santa Maria in 1987. They attended his 50-year class reunion in 1988. He enjoyed carpentry, gardening, dogs and traveling, and never had an unkind word to say. He is survived by his wife, Use Candiello of Santa Maria; a daughter, Mary Kopecky, and her husband, Richard, of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; two stepsons, Jim Wathen of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Steve Wathen and his wife, Zena, of San Luis Obispo; one stepdaughter, Janet Wathen of Orcutt, Calif.; and one sister, Mary Frances Laird, and her husband, Dick, of Kilgore, Texas. Charlie Cranmar, 85, passed away Monday, August 8 at Hillcrest Hospital. Mr. Cranmar was a retired rancher and lifelong resident of Cliff, New Mexico. He is survived by two nieces, Mrs. Gertrude Farrar of Silver City, Mrs. Willie Wisniski of Placerville, California, two nephews, John S. Thompson of Silver City, and Fred K. Cann: Graveside services for Caroline T. Cann were held at Greenwood Memorial Park in San Diego, Ca, Wednesday. She was born in Eldorado, Kan., in 1891 and was a resident of Grant County for more than 60 yrs. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Cann, in 1967. She is survived by a son, W.H. Cann of Tucson, Ariz., a daughter, Frances Wilkes of San Diego, Calif., two grandchildren. Mrs. Cann was a member of the First Methodist Church of Silver City, the Silver City Woman's Club and the Grant County Art Guild.

Cann: William H. Cann, resident of Grant County for 56 years, died Tuesday morning at Hillcrest General Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Cann was a general shop foreman for the Chino Mine Division of Kennecott Copper Corporation, prior to his retirement in 1954, after 43 years of service. Actually, he had served the organization 46 years, having been employed three years in Arizona with the old Chino Copper mines, later the Kennecott operation. He and Mrs. Cann resided in Hurley until after his retirement, when they came to Silver City to make their home. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Caroline Cann; a son, Bill Cann of San Manuel, Ariz; a daughter, Mrs. Frances Wilkes of San Diego, Calif,; two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Harry Glover, and a brother, Lawrence Cann, both of Canada. Funeral services will be held Thursday at the Curtis Mortuary chapel, conducted by the Rev. James G. Wayne, of the First Methodist Church, with cremation in Albuquerque.

Calvin Canner. 54 died Monday in Los Angeles He was a brother of U L Conner of Silver City, who left immediate to attend the funeral. Other survivors are three brothers. David M. Canssler, 82, father of Harry Cansler of Silver City died here Friday evening. Mr. Cansler came to Silver City a short time ago from Morenci Az where he had lived for several years. Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon from the Cox mortuary chapel with the Rev. John Carpenter of the First Methodist church officiating. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery with the Elks lodge in charge of services. Pallbearers were fellow members of the Clinton Elks Lodge; E. A. Rascoe, Herbert Schade, Herman Stute, C.C. Riley, W. P. Spann, and Hubert Bowman. Honorary pallbearers were Charles Milkin, Roscoe White, H.R. Wells, James S. Ryan, J.A. Piqero, Aurthor Jameson, and Y. Troy.

Cansler: Elma Scott Cansler, 88, a former Silver City resident, passed away Sunday in Barstow, Calif. She was born April 1, 1903, in St. John, Utah, to Mae and John Albert Scott. Her family moved from Utah to Morenci, Ariz. Her father worked for Phelps Dodge Corp. and in later years for General Motors. She graduated from high school in Morenci and attended business college in Salt Lake City, graduating in 1924. On April 22, 1925, she married Harry Cansler in Morenci, and in 1932, they became residents of Silver City. Mr. and Mrs. Cansler were in business in Silver City until Mr. Cansler passed away on June 4, 1972. Mrs. Cansler was active in the Silver City Woman's Club, the League of Woman Voters, and the Silver City planning board. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Mrs. Cansler remained in Silver City until 1986, when failing health required her to be with her daughters. She moved to Edina, Minn., with Jane Cansler Reich, and in 1989 moved to Barstow with her daughter, Ann Wilkerson, and her son-in-law, Bill Wilkerson. Mrs. Cansler was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; her sister, Gladys Milliken, in 1971; her mother, Mae Wright, in 1969; a baby daughter, Gladys Mae, in 1942; and her father, John Scott, in 1928. She is survived by her daughters, Ann Cansler Wilkerson and Jane Cansler Reich; her son-in-law, Bill Wilkerson; her grandson, David Geofrey Reich; and her niece, Katherine Milliken Miller. Services will be held Thursday in Barstow at Mead Funeral Home. Interment will be Friday in Tooele, Utah, where she will be buried next to her husband and her parents. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Silver City Public Library.

Porfirios Costales, 48, of Hurley, employed by Chino Mines Division, Kennecott Copper Corp., died Monday following a brief illness. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Simona L. Madrid, Silver City; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Severiano Costales, Las Cruces; two brothers, Severiano Costales, Las Cruces and Severiano, Jr., Burbank, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Armenia Benavides, Las Cruces and Mrs. Juanita Costales, Burbank, Calif. CAPSHAW: Dorman Capshaw, a former resident of Grant County, passed away Monday in Santee, Calif. He was 71 years old. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sherlene Rayrner. He also has three brothers, Ross Capshaw of El Paso, Texas, John Ray of Arenas Valley and John Robert of Arenas Valley; and two sisters, Patricia DeLaGuerra of Campo, Calif., and Bonnie Teckemeyer of Silver City. She is survived by her husband, Dorman Capshaw of their home in El Cajon, Calif.; three sons, Curtis Lee Capshaw, Mark Capshaw and Greg Capshaw, all of El Cajon; her parents, Curtis and Opal Raymer of Deming; three sisters, Bobbie Martin Hendershot of Tucson, Ariz., Nina S. Joe T. Carbajal, 69, passed away Wednesday; May 4, at his residence in Silver City. Mr. Carbajal was born in El Paso, Texas, and lived most of his life in Grant County. He is survived by three daughters, Miss Louisa Carbajal of Silver City, Mrs. Josie Frost of Santa Rita, and Mrs. Priscilla Zamarripa of Las Cruces, two sons, Raymond Carbajal of Las Cruces and Rudy Carbajal of Silver City and 13 grandchildren. CARBAJAL: Alberto 0. Carbajal, 85, passed away Thursday. He was born April 8, 1912, in Silver City to Sccundino and Monica Carhajal. Raised in Grant County, Mr. Carbajal made his home in Silver City, where he married Belia Espinosa in 1937. They had three children and were married for 60 years. Mr. Carbajal was a devoted employee of Kennecott Copper Corp.’s Chino Mines operation. It was during his career with Kennecott that he became a member of the International Association of Machinists. He retired after 10 years of service. Mr. Carbajal throughout his life was a devout communicant of Infant Jesus Catholic Church in Hurley. Annette and Lucy; six brothers, Nacho Carbajal of Silver City, Rudy and Raymond Carbajal of Riverside, Calif., Frank Carbajal of Bayard, Felix Carbajal of Albuquerque and Albert Carbajal of Pueblo, Colo.; and two sisters, Mary Baca of Hurley and Angie Carbajal of Tucson, Ariz.

Carbajal: Lugarda Montoya Carbajal, 88, a resident of Grant County for the last three years, died Monday morning in Fort Bayard Medical Ceter. She was born Jan. 1, 1902, in San Lorenzo. She was a member of the Catholic Church and was a homemaker. Calling hours will be from 3-9 p.m. today at Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels where rosary services will be held at 7:30 tonight. Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated Wednesday morning at 10 in St. Francis Newman Center with concluding services to follow in Memory Lane Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Mayer, pastor of the Newman Center, will officiate. Survivors include five sons, Don C. Montoya and his wife, Adela, of Albuquerque, Reyes C. Montoya and his wife, Ramona, of Silver City, and Tomas C. Montoya, Agustin Quintana and his wife, Angie, all of Albuquerque; three brothers, Sirildo and Manuel Duran of Central, and Alfredo Duran of Whiskey Creek; and two sisters, Angelita Perez of Whittier, Calif., and Reyna Dominguez of Deming. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nephews and nieces. Casket bearers will be Reyes, Tom, Armando and Eloy Montoya, Agustin Quintana and Alfredo Duran. Serving as honorary bearer will be Sirildo Duran. Onica G. Carbajal was laid to rest Tuesday afternoon in Hanover, following her death Sunday noon. Church services were held Tuesday morning in the Catholic church with the Rev. Pedro Ruiz presiding. She had been a Grant county resident for the past 61 years. Her husband the late Secundio Carbajal, was one of the early residentsof the county. Survivors include five sons, Ramon Acosta, San Pedro Calif; Felix Carbajal, San Pedro; Mrs Arnold B. Williams, Silver City; Frank Alberto, Manuel Carbajal and Mrs. Lorenzo Gomez of Santa Rita; and one sister, Mrs. Manual Valencia Sr. of Los Angeles. Cox mortuary was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Carbajal: Olga Wray Carbajoal, a former Silver City resident, died March 14 in an Albuquerque hospital. She had been a resident of Belen for the past 42 years, teaching music in the school system until her retirement two years ago. She had been active in music circles of the area and was a volunteer music teacher at the Abundant Life Christian Academy. Mrs. Carbajal was born and raised in Silver City. She was also involved in music activities in this community. Memorial services were held at the Abundant Life Christian Center with her son, Barney Carbajal, pastor of the church, officiating. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Juanita Wray; a sister, Leola Alper; and a brother, Frank Lopez. She is survived by two other sons, Leo and Rick Carbajal of Belen, and nine grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, Barbara Serna of Albuquerque, Edna Tryon of Birmingham, Ala., Eva Clarke of Ruidoso and Amy Werner of Albuquerque.

Carbajal: Pedro O. Carbajal died in Tucson, Dec. 13. Mr. Carbajal lived in this area for 70 of his 78 years. He wife preceded him in death, as did his daughter Lucy. He is survived by eight sons, Nacho and Rudy of Silver City, Pete of Tucson, Johnny of San Diego, Calif., Raymond of Riverside, Calif., Frank and Felix, both of Bayard and Albert of Pueblo, Colo., two daughters, Mary of Hurley and Angie of Tucson; one brother, Ralph Carbajal of Pico Rivera, Calif., 47 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchidren. CARBAJAL: Manuel O. Carbajal, 80, a former Santa Rita resident, entered eternal rest Tuesday, Jan. 9, in Lomita, Calif. He had resided in Lomita for the past 36 years. CARBAJAL; Angelo Carbajal, 85, passed away at her residence Thursday evening. Mrs. Carbajal was a resident of Silver City for the past 19 years, and had been a member of the St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church, and also of the Guadalupanas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufino Carbajal on July 5, 1977. She is survived by two sons, Jose Carbajal and his wife, Socorro, of Alamogordo, and Ruflno Carbajal and his wife, Esttella, of El Paso. Texas; and five daughters, Sofia Arsola and her husband. Mrs. Pomposa L Cardena, 79, a lifelong resident of Grant County having been born on the Mlmbres River, passed away Sunday In Hillcrest Hospital. Rosary services were held Monday evening In the Curtis Mortuary chapel. Funeral mass was held at 9 a.m, Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, followed by burial in the Catholic cemetery. Miss Juliana Cardenas, 73, died at Hillcrest Hospital Sunday following an extended Illness. Miss Cardenas was a native of Pinos Altos and had lived in Grand County all of her life. Survivors include five brothers, Thomas of Oakland, Calif., Ignacio of Sacramento, Calif., Manuel of Los Angeles, Calif., Leandro and Leonardo both of Bayard; three sisters,’ Miss Ofelia Cardenas of Forward, Calif., Mrs. Ciorindti Vivovich of Castro ValIey Calif., and Miss Ermilinda Cardenas of Bayard. Rosary was said in the Curtis Bright funeral chapel at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday with the funeral mass being recited in Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Bayard at 9 a.m. Thursday. Cardenas: Ignacio (Nacho) (Goldie) Cardenas, 80, a former resident of Grant County who was born and raised in Santa Rita, passed away March 10 in West Sacramento, Calif., where he had resided since 1952. Married 52 years, he is survived by his wife, Irene Cardenas of West Sacramento; two sons, Jim of San Jose, Calif., and Bob of Chico, Calif.; six grandchildren; three brothers, Manuel of Los Angeles, Calif., and Leonardo and Leand of Bayard; and three sisters, Ofelia Cardenas and Clorinda Vidovich of Hayward, Calif., and Ermelinda Cardenas of Bayard. Mr. Cardenas was an electrician and member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers No. 340 for 42 years; was a member of Moose Lodge No. 1762 of West Sacramento; and was an active bowler at Country Club Lanes in West Sacramento. Recitation of the holy rosary was held Sunday evening, March 13, and a memorial service was held Monday afternoon, March 14. Officiating at both services was the Rev. M.J. Cardenas: Leonardo Nayo Cardenas, 93, a lifelong Grant County resident, passed away Wednesday at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was born Oct. 16, 1901 to Thomas and Refugia (Salcido) in Pinos Altos. He married Julia Torres in Fierro. Mr. Cardenas retired from Kennecott Copper Corp. in 1969 and was known as a man who enjoyed hard work. Though he had no sons, he enjoyed playing marbles and tops, and flying kites with the young boys in his neighborhood. He loved horses and enjoyed rodeos, listening to county-western music and hunting. He is survived by his wife, Julia T. Cardenas of Bayard; two daughters, Clorinda Saenz and her husband, Johnny of Bayard and Mary L. Watt and her husband, Paul of Fremont, Calif.; two sisters, Ophelia Cardenas of Hayward, Calif. and Ermelinda Cardenas of Fort Bayard; a sister-in-law, Mary T. Hinojosa of Fort Bayard; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters and a grandson. Visitation will be held in the Curtis-Bright Funeral Home chapel Friday from 5 p.m. until the prayer vigil begins at 7 with Deacon Alfonso Alvarado reciting the rosary. Cardenas: Manuel S. Cardenas, 78, passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles, Calif. Mr. Cardenas was born in Santa Rita and as a young man worked at Chino Mines as a timekeeper before leaving for Los Angeles, where he resided for the past 50 years. He is survived by two brothers, Leandro Cardenas and Leonardo Cardenas and his wife, Julia, of Bayard; three sisters, Ermelinda Cardenas of Fort Bayard, and Ofelia Cardenas and Clorinda Vidovich, both of Haywood, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. Candelario D. Cardon, 30, a Navy veteran of World War II, died last Saturday at Fort Bayard Veterans Administration Hospital, He entered the hospital June 11 for treatment. Cardon was an employee of Briggs Appliance Store for the past two years and well known here, Surviving are his wife, Mollie, a daughter, and his parents residing at Las Cruces. Funeral arrangements were in charge of the Cox Mortuary, Services and burial took place in Las Cruces on Tuesday.

Manuel C. Cardoza, 26, of Silver City, employee of Chino Mines, Kennecott Copper Corp. was instantly killed in a one-car accident at 12:40 a.m. I Sunday on State Highway 180, east of Central, when a station wagon he was driving went out of control and rolled over several times. The car was demolished.

It was Grant County’s fifth highway fatality so far this year. State Police Patrolman Gene Tow and deputies of the Sheriff’s office investigated the accident. A coroner’s inquest was held1 Monday by Justice of the Peace Arnold Acosta of Central. The jury returned a verdict of death in an automobile accident which was attributed to excessive speed. Surviving are the parents. Mr. and Mrs. Jesus H. Cardoza, Silver City, three brothers, Albert, Louis and Jose; four sisters. Carmen. Linda and Mary Ester Cardoza and Mrs. Rosa ,C. Cardoza. Cardoza: Jesus H. Cardoza, 86, of Silver City entered eternal rest Monday morning at his home. He was born April 13, 1905, in Rodeo, Durango, Mexico, and had been a Grant County resident for 80 years. He retired from Chino Mines, where he worked as a painter. Mr. Cardoza was a member of the Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Cardoza served his church for the past 79 years in various capacities. He was an altar boy and later an organist at Infant Jesus Catholic Church in Hurley from 1930 to 1950 and at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Silver City from 1950 to 1990. Calling hours will be from 2-5 Thursday afternoon in Baca's Hillcrest Funeral Chapels, where the vigil service will be held at 7. The funeral liturgy service will be held Friday morning at 10 in Infant Jesus Catholic Church in Hurley with the Rev. Paulus Kao officiating. The committal rite service will follow in the Hurley Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. Cargile: Sara Katherine (Von Tress) Cargile, 62, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away Friday. She was born June 1, 1929, in Santa Rita to John H. and Alice Nora Von Tress. She attended Santa Rita Elementary School, Hurley High School and New Mexico Western College, where she was active in student government, serving as a class officer and as vice president of the student council. She was the 1950 homecoming queen at Western. She later married Vinson G. Cargile, who also attended Western. Mrs. Cargile is survived by her husband, Vinson Cargile, a retired U.S. Air Force major; a son, Vincent I. Cargile of Salem, Ore.; four sisters, Beatrice Gates of El Paso, Texas, Elaine Justus of Santa Fe, Clella Kubiak of Friendswood, Texas, and Mary Alice Von Tress of Mimbres; two brothers, William R. Von Tress of Mimbres; two brothers, William R. Von Tress of Angleton, Texas, and John H. Von Tress Jr. of Mimbres; a granddaughter, Brandy Cargile of Salem; a nephew, Greg Collins and family of Tyrone; and a cousin, Dr. Hal Harle of Mimbres. Emma V. Carrillo, 76, died Thursday, Feb. 10 at Presbyterian Hospita1 in Albuquerque. She was born in Dana Ana, but was a lifelong resident of Grant County. Placio Carrillo, 85, a former resident of Hanover, died Monday in Glendale, Arizona. He was a retired employee of the Empire Zinc Co. where, he worked for 40 years. Anderson Carrithers, colored, veteran of World War I, died in Fort Bayard Veterans hospital Saturday, of a gunshot wound, allegedly self inflicted. Carrithers had been despondent due to Ill-health and is believed to have shot himself at his home In Central, where he lived with his wife.

CARLIN: Virginia 0. Carlin, 66, a homemaker, died Saturday, Jan. 1, at Mee Memorial Hospital in King City, Calif. Born Feb. 2, 1933, in Silver City, she lived in Monterey County, Calif., for more than 60 years, most recently in Soledad. Mrs. Carlin was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Antonio of Soledad; a son Ben of Paso Robles, Calif.; daughter, Alice of Soledad.

Carlisle: Services for Richard Donnell Carlisle, 45, of Seattle, Wash., were held April 25 in Branon Funeral Home Chapel, Lamesa, Texas, with the Rev Mike Wilcox officiating. Burial was in Lamesa Memorial Park under the direction of the Branon Funeral Home, beside his father and grandfather. His death is a direct result of his fight with multiple sclerosis since his early 30s. He grew up at the family ranch near Datil. He was born in Lamesa, and was adopted by Victor Carlisle, who raised him as his own, and preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Latournean College at Longview, Texas. He and his family served in the mission field at Palmer, Alaska, and later he was employed at Westinghouse Inc. in Georgetown, Texas. He loved the ranch life of New Mexico and helped the New Mexico Cowbelles in Albuquerque in 1984 as host for the National Beef Cook-off. He also worked as a volunteer for missions at the World's Fair in Canada. He married Joyce Grissom on June 22, 1963 in Lamesa. He is survived by five children; a son, Richard Brent, and daughters, Teresa of Georgetown, Lisa Carlisle of Abilene, Texas, Tonia Carlisle of Austin, Texas, and Janet Carlisle Selby and grandson William Richard Selby of Temple,T exas; his mother, Evelyn Carlisle Yates of Pinos; sisters, Deanna Lewis of Hobbs and Vicky Ricks of Midland, Texas; and his grandmother, Mrs. O.D. Carlson, a former member Of the medical staff of he Watts Clinic In Shyer City, died ‘suddenly May 11, at his home In. Fort Coflina, where he had been engaged in practice for the past two years. News of the death of Dr. Carlson was received in a letter to the Silver City’ Enterprize from Mrs. Carlson He died of a cerebral hemorrhage. Dr. Carison was a member of the Mayo Brothers staff In Rochester, ,Minn. Following’ his graduation from McGill Univerersity1 Medical Sthool In Canada, and thereafter practiced in Iowa befor coming to New Mexico. He came to Silver City from the Lovelace Clinic Albuquerque. Surviving are his widow, and five children.

Mr. Carlson was a native of Austin, Texas and had been living here for the past three years. Mr. Carlson is survived by one son, Wayne of Silver City, one daughter. CARLSON: Jack D. Carlson, 78, of Silver City, died earley Sunday afternoon at Gun Regional Medical Center. Mr. Carlson was the sorrof the late Charles-and Allie Carlson. He was born near Rankin, ill., on Aug. 29, 1906. He attended Rank-in Public schools and was a 1924 graduate of Rankin Township High School. For many years he was superintendent of the Glenwood Fish Hatchery, retiring in 19,1, and he moved to Silver City. He was a member of Tyrone Lodge No. 52, A.F. and A.M., Order of the Easter Star Tyrone Chapter 41, and tile New Mexico Sheriff and Police Association. Mr. Carlson is survived by his wife, Louise Bues Carlson of Silver City; a sister, Mrs. Dee Davis of Wokorusa, md.; a foster son, Tim Sharp of Las Cruces; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Wendell (Carol) Kizerofocala, Fla., and Barbara K. Cook of San Bernadino, Calif.; and a stepson, Richard B. Cook of Unionville, Mo. lie was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother, Eugene. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be’ made to the New Mexico Boys Ranch. Mrs Ida K Carlson a resident of Silver City for 39 years, passed away last Thursday in an El Paso hospital. Mrs. Carlson was a retired army nurse, Veterans Administration and public health nurse. She was a member of the New Mexico Nurses Association, Eastern Star, American Legion, VFW Auxiliary and the Presbyterian Church. She is survived by4 her husband Harry; son Harry. Jr. of Patagonia, Ariz, Mrs. Jane Carlson Klinger of Deming, and seven great-grandchildren. The family requested contributions go to the Cancer. Fund. Curtis Mortuary was in’ charge.

Carlson: Eva Marie Carlson, 72, died at her residence Sunday, October 13. She was a native of Coulee City, WA., and had resided in Glenwood and Silver City for the past 30 years. She is survived by her husband, Jack D. Carlson of Silver City; two foster children Tim and Linda Sharp, both of Las Cruces; two sisters, Mrs. Olive Chaddock of Los Angeles, CA., and Mrs. Lucy Anderson of Champaign, IL., and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Tuesday October 15 at the Curtis Bright Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Clifford E. Hutton of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Cremation followed in Albuquerque. The family has stated those who desire may make memorial contributions to the New Mexico Boys Ranch.

Carlson: Harry Carlson, 95, father of Jan C. Fitzke and Harry J. Carlson, passed away Sunday in the Fort Bayard Medical Center. Mr. Carlson was born in the upper peninsula of Sagola, Mich., on April 29, 1892. After serving in France during World War I, he moved from Michigan and was hospitalized in 1921 in what was then the Fort Bayard Veterans Hospital.
